"Keya, Krish!" Gauri Kapoor exclaimed loudly, her voice reaching Keya.
Before opening her eyes, Keya smiled to herself. Finally, she was home. She had missed India so much; no place was more comfortable than her bed.
She looked to her left, and, as usual, Krish's blanket was off him. Why does he take it in the first place? Keya thought. She got up from her bed and went to open the curtains.
As the curtains parted, sunlight fell directly on Krish's face. Half-awake, he exclaimed, "Keya!"
Keya ignored him and stepped onto the balcony—their hotspot. All of life's mysteries and puzzles were solved lying down there. The balcony was spacious enough to accommodate her mother's garden, a large swing, and ample space for Krish and her to dance.
She walked toward the railing and took a deep breath. The sun smiled at her. The trees danced in happiness. The birds chirped her favourite songs. The breeze welcomed her with its cool touch. Keya Sharma was home.
Memories flooded her mind: family, friends, this place—everything she had left behind when she and Krish moved to Australia to complete their MBAs. Keya specialized in Human Resources (HR), focusing on talent acquisition and organizational behaviour, while Krish concentrated on Finance, delving into investment strategies and financial analysis.
But now they were back, ready to relive those memories.
There are moments in life that define who you're going to be. Sometimes, they're subtle; other times, they're monumental. No one asks for their life to change, but it does. It's what you do afterwards that counts. That's when you discover who you are.
Keya's life had changed drastically over the past few years, but today, she decided to embrace a new beginning. She stood, uncertain of the future, but knew she was ready to face it bravely.
"Good morning, baby girl," Mr. Kapoor called out from the gate, returning from his morning walk.
"Morning, Dad," Keya replied, breaking away from her thoughts.
She went back inside to find Krish still asleep.
"Krish, wake up," she said.
Krish covered his head with a pillow and mumbled, "Keya, I've missed my bed a lot. I want to sleep some more."
"We're not going anywhere now. You have your whole life to enjoy your bed. But get up! It's going to be a busy day,"Keya said, jumping onto her bed.
"Whatever... Just let me sleep. Take your ugly ass downstairs, please!"
Did he just talk about Keya's ass?
Her mischievous mind quickly led her to Krish's bed. The next thing she did sent Krish screaming onto the floor—Keya had kicked him right on his buttocks!
"Were you saying something?" she mocked.
Krish got up, furiously replying, "You witch! Do you think you're some delicate doll? You've got the strength of an elephant! Witch! My back hurts!"
"So now you know! Never talk about me like that! Or I'll make it impossible for you to sit!"
Just as Krish walked in to get his toothbrush, Keya went into the bathroom to brush her teeth. He wasn't even looking at her, still half-asleep.
Keya turned on the tap, rinsed her mouth, and sprinkled water on his face. There went her second prank of the day. She loved irritating Krish. His face turned red, and Keya couldn't stop laughing.
In her laughter, she didn't realize when Krish had filled a jar with water. Before she could escape, she was drenched!
"Idiot!" she exclaimed, furious.
