Chapter 28
"You know you have to speak, right Zara?" My mother asks me and I nod. Of course the Maid of Honor speaks at the wedding dinner and so does the Best Man. Actually, let me not think of the Best Man. The more I think of what he said to me and how long we've been ignoring each other, the more furious I get.
My mother runs a hand down my hair and we both look up as a petite blonde woman taps a microphone in the small dining room. The wedding is going to be very small. Just close friends and family members.
"Welcome everyone to the first night of wedding rehearsals and of course, let's show our excitement for the bride and groom!" She boasts. She starts the clap and I join in with everyone else as Steven and my mother stand up. I ignore looking over the seats they've abandoned to look down at Donovan.
My moms and Steven's work friends all whoop and holler with happiness, then once they settle down, the wedding planner speaks up again, "Tonight we're going to run through the order of the wedding dinner as in who speaks, what will be said, what videos will be played and so on and so forth, then the night will mostly be consumed by the dances and the aisle walk. So, let's get started with introductions. If everyone will please stand, starting from the left of the front row and say their name and role in the wedding." She waves towards a group of giggling older girls and they start to shyly introduce themselves.
Oh great. I have to witness, basically, a dating service between the bridesmaids and the groomsmen.
All of Steven's friends are eyeing the girls as they introduce themselves and the girls do the same right back. I swear that girls are just as bad as guys; especially when it comes to checking them out.
The wedding planner laughs after the last groomsman introduces himself. She points to the front row, "Now introducing the Maid of Honor." She starts a clap and everyone eyes me as I stand up and wave slightly.
"Hi, I'm Zara Lisle -- daughter of the Bride." I say nicely and the claps get louder. My mom shoots me a wink and I blush, then sit down and look at my hands in my lap.
"Good. Great to have you here, Zara. And now introducing, the Best Man." The wedding planner announces. Dammit, I really need to figure out what her name is again.
Donovan stands up I assume, because a few seconds later his deep voice echoes across the room, "Donovan here -- obviously the Best Man, so... yeah." He clears his throat and I roll my eyes, then land them on the wedding planner. She looks starstruck.
Don't even go there, lady -- he's too young for you and a major asshole. He hurts feelings for fun.
I scowl at her expression as she shoots a dazzling smile, "Nice to meet you, Donovan. Now, if everyone would pay attention to the order of rehearsal tonight, we can get started right away with the aisle walks. Dance practice is at the end as always." She glances back towards where Donovan is and though I'm angry with him...
Jealousy is still burning deep within me like a bitch.

"CUE THE WEDDING MARCH!" Christy cries. I finally learned her name after asking Steven quietly, who then laughed at me and told me he had to ask my mom to refresh his own memory. The wedding march starts and we all scramble into aisles, but Christy has the music cut, "You guys aren't even in partners. Janine, if you don't mind." She waves my mother forward and she walks in front of us and pulls out a piece of paper,
