My phone rang and I answered it via my comm service.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Lukas, have you seen Nora. She went chasing after you and she called asking for help."
"No I haven't seen her. I'll go search." I said to him before hanging up.
I hated not telling them my secret but it was for the best, for their protection.
I caught a glimpse of a leather jacket and a darker girl with short brown hair turn into an alleyway.
Clayton on her heels.
The rain splattered against my suit and I prayed to God for granting me with the ability to stick to anything.
I swung down into the alleyway between the two of them.
If I saved Nora now it would be the third time this month. She was always getting herself into trouble.
After I had saved her the first time every time we hung she went on this spree about how 'The Spider' had saved her and how she was in love with him and wanted to meet him and Jesus she sounded like a school girl crushing over a celebrity.
I landed softly behind both of them.
"Put down the gun Clayton. It doesn't have to be this way."
He spun on me.
"Oh but it does, family doesn't mean anything anymore." He said pointing the barrel at my head.
"You killed your family, are you killing other families in the city as well?" I questioned him.
"Yes, after I'm done with Nora. I'll move on to Barry, and Iris, Joe And Cecile." His finger inched towards the trigger.
"Quick question." I asked him. "Do you know how to fight?"
He growled and pulled the trigger. I was quicker and sidestepped the bullet that came at me much slower than it should've.
I quickly webbed the barrel and yanked the gun out of his hand. I ducked under my webbing and he came forward with the gun and flipped him around my back.
"Run." I said to Nora who turned and ran in the opposite direction. I could've sworn I saw purple and yellow electricity dance off the bottom of her shoes before it disappeared.
Police sirens wailed and a cop car pulled into the alleyway.
Joe West stepped out of the car.
"Spider catch." He said as threw me a pair of glowing blue handcuffs.
Clayton squirmed out of my grasp and made an attempt to dive the gun.
Joe was quick to the trigger and shot the gun sending out a blast that knocked the man backwards.
I quickly webbed him up like a Spider's prey and put the power dampening cuffs on him.
"He's all yours Detective West." I said saluting him and swinging out of the alleyway.
The rain continued to pour as I searched for Nora.
She must've made it home.
I swung to Barry's apartment where Nora was sitting on the couch sobbing.
Barry and Iris were yet to get home.
I landed softly on the glass and walked it like a spider to the window.
I silently tapped on the glass door upside down.
Nora smiled and wiped the tears from her eyes as she came to open the door and stand on the balcony where I was hanging upside down from a web attached to the roof.
"Are you stalking me?" She smirked.
"You gotta quit putting yourself in situations like that." I said to her.
She nodded. "I know I was just looking for my friend and then Clayton came out of nowhere. I was terrified after knowing what those bullets did to that family." She said starting to sob again.
"Hey it's okay, I'll always be there to save you." I said to her.
"The other three times I could've dealt with them myself." She argued.
"I know."
"But I needed you tonight and you were there." She said to me.
"And like I said. I always will be."
Her hands went up towards my mask and I flinched.
"Don't worry, I'm not going to take it off." She assured me.
I trusted her, so I let her.
She pulled the mask so that it was just above my nose.
Her hands wrapped around the side of my head. She closed her eyes and her breaths began to get faster as her warm breath hit my face.
Her face got closer to mine and I felt my breathing began to speed up as well.
"Nora, we can't." I said to her.
"Why not?" She asked placing her forehead against my chin.
"I don't know." I said not wanting to argue about it anymore. My double life was stopping me. I knew how I felt about her, It's the same way I had felt since I met her but she was in love with the Spider. Not with Lukas.
This would be my only chance at kissing her.
"Exactly." She smiled as she finally closed the gap and kissed me.
It was amazing I'll tell you that, I've never kissed anyone upside down in my life before but it was so much better than anyone I had ever kissed normally either.
I thought the whole fireworks thing was fake.
I felt her hands pull me in tighter and she stood on her tiptoes as she deepened the kiss. I wanted so badly to take my mask off right there but I knew that I couldn't.
It wouldn't be right.
It would be selfish, and I don't do selfish.
Sirens wailed in the distance and I jerked towards the noise.
She pulled back and smiled at me.
"What happens with us now?" I asked.
"I don't know whatever you decide." She said to me as she put her hands at her side.
Her hair and her clothes were soaking from the rain.
I sat and thought.
"Not right now stupid. You have a crime to stop." Nora said before pulling my mask back down.
I saw the streak of yellow speed out of S.T.A.R Labs as I did a flip and swung through the streets once more.
