Following Morning, Durn's, Forces are on the move.
Just after midnight, seven hours till contact.

Saran couldn't sleep, walking the line she stopped, two up the same spot? I couldn't sleep, Elder Sarna. To spooked about tomorrow, what it may bring. Sarna sat between them, yes, I know the feeling. I have my worries yours and all the others on my mind. Who will not breathe who will possibly lose a leg or an arm, not see again? Try and set that aside, one of you should rest. After my walk, I am going to try. Father, you have the watch? Yes, daughter, it's about over then I'll rest some. Why are you up and moving? Sleep wouldn't come, Ben is out don't think cannon fire would wake him. Head to the barn get some rest even if it's not sleep, relax some.

Sarna, turned I'll walk some more, night Father. Clear night no sign of rain, warm. Thinking are they that confident, no forward scouts I would of planned so I'd be here now, attacking before the sun broke the horizon, they'll be looking into the sun. Till about eleven. That's my advantage, arrive before the sun gets too high. Riders have been sent more help could come before daybreak. My decision is sound, we hold. Now Sarna rest.

                                Seven hours later
                                    Lone Star

Sargent Taylor stopped, you all best take better cover! They are coming, Colonel, you should know better what if I was the enemy? Sargent, you headed back in? Yes! Send a message Colonel Louse they are headed this way. He is in Elloree!
I've got it! Bye, your leave! Taylor rode hard, she knew they were only maybe three miles behind her. Less than forty minutes she stopped at Elloree. Colonel Louse they are about three miles behind me, I'm off to warn the rest! Go like the wind! We'll be ready! Come on horse! Twenty minutes no more.

Taylor was off the horse before it stopped, General Parson! Maybe half hour at best! Half hour, I have it! Report to Cap Howard! Half hour at best pass the word! Sarna fastened her pistol belt checked her pistol, Ben, before this starts I love you. I know, dear lady as do I. Grab those field glasses. Ben, aren't you scared? Sarna I am so damn scared can't make spit, that ease up some, soon as that first shot goes off. Best get to where we can direct.
You coming?  Sarna grabbed the field glasses, can't make spit, I can't either mouth is dry. Not the first time.

Sarna ran towards the hay bales and log defenses. Leaning against the wall she looked through the glasses, Ben they aren't in sight yet. Ben looked at the signaler, Sarna they are just out of sight! Coming up the rise now! Bama Third Infantry is coming just south of us Sarna they don't know flag signals. Sarna shouted Liza, we need a runner. Liza said I'll go. Tell Bama to set up our left flank, too hurry not more than twenty minutes away. Bye, your leave!

Sarna leaned forward looking through the glasses, Ben they are just topping the rise. Still out of range for our cannon. Ben looked, I don't think Louse will attack until they get a few shots off, let them think the rear is safe. I know that's what I'd do. Liz slid in next to Sarna my scout informed me they may have five prisoners with them. All my platoon is in position. I'll stay here, with you two, fall back when I tell you, please. Sarna looked at Liz if I feel we should I'll fall back.

                          Colonel Durn

Durn called a stop, Major looks like they know we are coming! I told you we shouldn't have stopped! Colonel, our stop didn't warn them, I told you forward scouts were needed. You would not listen, words of advice, you best place a rear guard and now! Major our rear is safe, we've seen no sign of them other than to our front. Now bring the prisoner DJ to the front immediately! Oh, have our mortars prepare to fire on my command.

Durn, we are out of range, we need to move another five to six- hundred yards. Major! I'd do as ordered! I will not tolerate this, do as you are told!
Do not question me, just do it! Yes! Sir, have the mortars prepare to fire. Bring the female prisoner to you. Stopping like this middle of a road that is sunk like a ditch. The enemy can see us, they know we are coming. Durn is a fool, these men will be killed. For what? Durn's stupidity. No, my stupidity.
Not Durn's. Major, Sims! On me, please!
