Rough Patch

"When are you going to turn your phone back on?" Jenna sighs as she sits next to me on the couch.

"I can't bring myself to do it." I reply. 

"Why don't I just go onto my phone and go onto it and see what it says." Jenna reaches for her phone that is sitting on the end table. 

"No! Don't." I say, panicked. Jenna looked at me concerned.

"Tyler, I understand that you're scared but you have to do this. Please do it before the gender reveal so we can have a really good time! I know you're going to love what you're fans say. You're fans are so dedicated and love you so, so much." 

"I know. And I'm going to have a great time at the gender reveal no matter what but I don't think I can do this." 

"I know you. You are so strong. You can do this. It's simple. Just turn your phone on and see what the comments say on instagram. That's it. Maddy is coming over in one hour and everyone is going to start showing up in 2 hours so hurry up and check!" Jenna says. She leans into me and rests her head on my shoulder. I look down at her and then up at the ceiling and sigh. I reach into my pocket and I grab my cell phone. Jenna has a small smile on her face. I turn on the phone and wait. I had all my notifications turned on so when I turned on my phone nothing appeared on the screen. 

"Ok. Here I go." I say. I press the instagram app and it was already signed into the band account. I already noticed that there were a lot more followers on the page. I click the photo that I had posted and there were over a million likes. I was shocked. I read the comments and all of them were positive and all the fans were commenting how excited they were. I clicked on tagged photos and saw a bunch of photos of fans on their fan accounts crying and saying how grateful they were that I didn't give up. I felt my eyes burn with tears trying to escape my eyes. Jenna hugged me tighter. 

"See, I told you." Jenna said. I looked down at her and I had tears well up in my eyes and fall down my cheeks. Jenna smiled at me and tears starting forming in her eyes as well. Just as we were crying together Ellie walked into the room. 

"What happened? Why are you crying? Are you sad?" Ellie asks quickly. 

"Oh, Ellie. We are happy crying." Jenna said and picked up Ellie and put her in her lap even though Ellie was getting a little big to be held like that. This was one of the best days of my life.

There's a knock at the door which gets me out of my trance of refreshing the instagram page. I go to answer it and its Maddy holding blue and pink balloons and her husband also came along holding a bunch of other stuff as well. 

"Hey you two! Are you just so excited?" Maddy said. 

"Very." I reply smiling. Maddy starts setting up balloons around the house and outside on the front porch and them she had a box which was decorated in lots of different colors and there were ribbons and glitter all over it. 

"So, how is this going to work?" I ask. 

"I'm not saying until everyone arrives." Maddy said as she continued to decorate quickly. 

Pretty soon, the guests were all scattered about our living room and kitchen. People were having snacks and talking and there was music playing. There was a lot more people than I thought. Jenna and Maddy did all the invites so I was seeing people I haven't seen or talked to in years. It was pretty nice to catch up with everyone. 

Finally the time came. It was time to see what the gender of our twins were going to be. Maddy stood on the window ledge and yelled to get everyone's attention. 

"Hey! Everyone! Please gather in the living room!" Maddy yells. Everyone quiets down and the music is turned off. People started to all gather in the living room and Maddy gets ready to explain how this reveal will go. 

"Okay, so will Tyler, Jenna and Ellie please come stand by me?" Maddy says. The three of us walk up and stand next to her and the giant box. "Alright, so here's how this will work. In this box are 2 microphones. I decided to use microphones since Tyler has always loved music and singing. There is a button on those microphones and when you press it they will light up in either pink or blue and there will also be a brightly colored gender written across the microphone." Maddy explains. 

"Why'd you put microphones in a giant box?" I question. 

"Um, I don't know, for the fun of it! Now just open the box." Maddy says sarcastically. I look over at Ellie and let her open the box. Ellie pulls out 2 microphones and hands one to me and one to Jenna. I couldn't believe that the gender of our twins is right here in our hands. Pretty soon we will be able to know the genders and start to think of names. I couldn't wait. 

"Okay! Now that you both have the microphones, lets off!" Maddy says acknowledging her husband, Will. The lights turn off and it was pretty dark in the room but still light enough so I could see everyone's faces. 

"Now, Will has the camera rolling so we can catch this wonderful moment on video and whenever you're ready you can hit those buttons and see the gender of your beautiful children!" Maddy exclaims. I look over and Jenna who is smiling so big. I look down and Ellie who keeps bouncing up and down in excitement. 

"Ellie, why don't you count to 3 and we will do it." I say. Ellie nods and starts her count down. 

"1! 2! 3!" Ellie yells. Jenna and I both press our buttons and everyone there cheers. Jenna and I cheer. We both start crying and hug each other from all of the excitement of the day that has just been released. I hold up my pink microphone and Jenna holds up her blue microphone. We are having a boy and a girl, I can't believe it.
