Tyler Joseph
I stand right next to Jenna's side and hold her hand tightly.
"Ellie was so much easier than this." Jenna grunted.
"You can do this Jenna. Pretty soon we will have two more babies." I reply.
"Okay Jenna. Lets have you give me a big push." The doctor stated. Jenna took in a deep breath and started to push. The doctor was nodding. "Good. Good. Keep it going. 5 more seconds." Jenna took in another breath and kept going.
"Is one of them almost out?" Jenna asked the doctor.
"Almost. I can see a little head so far. You are very lucky these babies are cooperating so there is no need for a C-Section." The doctor explained. "Ok, lets get this first baby out. Another big push." Jenna pushed even harder and squeezed my hand tightly. "A little more! One more quick push." Jenna pushed again and the doctor reached down and came up holding a little boy. I smiled .
"Tyler would you like to do the honor of cutting the first umbilical cord before the next baby comes?" A nurse asked me.
"Of course." I said. I walked over and the doctor showed me where to cut the cord and I did it. I heard our baby crying for the first time and I couldn't stop smiling. The baby was quickly wrapped in a towel and a nurse put him in the plastic bed and started doing some minor tests on him since he was born premature.
"Alright Jenna. Baby 2 is ready to come out! Lets have you start pushing again."
////----////
After a few more pushes our baby girl was out in the world. I cut her umbilical cord as well and nurses took her as well to work on her. A couple nurses wheeled both babies to the NICU. I sat down next to Jenna and smiled.
"You did so good." I said and kissed the top of her head.
"I want to see the babies." Jenna breathed.
"Soon. They are going to clean them up and make sure everything is going good and then we can go see them. The doctors say we are very lucky because even though they are premature they seem very healthy and probably won't have to stay in the NICU very long."
"Good. Are my parents here?"
"Yes. Everyone is here. Do you want me to bring them in now or wait until the babies are back in here?"
"Maybe wait. When are they bringing the babies back?"
"Any minute now."
////----////
A few more minutes went by and Jenna was able to relax. The doctor came in and told us he was very surprised the babies were doing well and really didn't have any serious problems. Our baby boy weighed 5 pounds 2 ounces while our little girl weighed 4 pounds 0 ounces. They were still pretty small but healthy.
The babies were wheeled in again. Our boy was swaddled in a white and light blue stripped blanket and hat and our girl was swaddled in a white and baby pink stripped blanket and hat. The nursed picked up the babies and handed the little girl to me and the little boy to Jenna.
"They are perfect." Jenna whispered.
"They really are." I replied.
"Do you have names picked out?" A nurse asked.
"Yes. But we would like out family in the room when we say it." I explain.
"Of course. I will go grab them." The nurse left the room and only a minute later our family filed in starting with Ellie. Ellie came over to us and sat on the edge of the bed. I was sitting in a chair next to the bed.
"El, these are your brother and sister." Jenna smiled.
"What did you name them?" Ellie asked staring back and forth between the babies. I look up at Jenna and allow her to do the honors. Our whole family was waiting patiently for us to say the names.
"Everyone meet Logan Joshua Joseph and Lyla Madison Joseph." Jenna announced. There were a lot of ooh's and ah's from our family. I smiled down at my newborn babies and at my beautiful and strong wife.
"Can I hold one of them?" Ellie asked looking between her mom and I.
"Sure. You need to sit right next to your mom and I will put Lyla into your arms." I reply. Ellie sat patiently with her arms out wide.
"Oh! Tyler, put some hand sanitizer in Ellie's hands first." Jenna says. I managed to squirt a small amount in Ellie's hands and she rubbed her hands together. I instruct Ellie how to hold out her arms and she does so. I place Lyla in her hands carefully and watched as Ellie's eyes lit up as she held her own baby sister in her arms. My dad was taking pictures and videos of all these moments and I couldn't wait to watch this all back.
All of a sudden there was a knock on the door and I thought for sure it would be the doctor or nurse to check on the babies and Jenna but it wasn't. In walked the Dun family. I could feel my eyes well up with tears. I was already emotional and to see them come in made me even more emotional. I walk over to them and give everyone a hug.
"We heard from your dad that the babies were here and we had to come see. I hope you don't mind." Laura said smiling.
"Not at all. Come on in." I said. The Dun family walks in and goes to see our babies.
"They are so precious." Abigail commented.
"Thank you." Jenna smiled.
"What are their names?" Jordan asked.
"Lyla Madison Joseph and Logan Joshua Joseph." I say. The whole Dun family was in shock. Laura covered her mouth. I go and wrap her in a hug.
"Logan Joshua?" She said.
"I had to keep Josh's name in this family some how." I reply.
"I absolutely love it."
"Thats so good to hear. I was a little worried about telling you."
"Don't be. This is perfect."
