"Okay and dig in", Chloe would smile as she'd place down the plate of waffles and blueberries in between her and Alex.

"Yes!", he'd laugh a little as he'd lean forward over the table to start eating.

"So, uhm honey I wanted to talk to you about something", Chloe would start as she'd watch her son eating. "You remember when I told you about how you had another Mom instead of a Dad?"

"Yeah but you said my other Mom left before I was born", he'd look up at his Mom across him, swallowing some more of his waffles.

"Well would you like to know more about her? If you don't want to then that's fine to, it's totally down to you honey", she'd smile before taking a piece of waffle to eat.

"Yeah sure, it's Beca who we met in the shop the other day right?", he'd look down at his plate, not seeing Chloe open her mouth wide in shock.

"Uhm.. how did you-"

"You guys didn't make it too discreet with how you was nervous and she was asking me questions", he'd snigger a little.

Chloe would smile a little now while shaking her head as she'd look over at Alex. "You are so much like her sometimes", she'd mumble to herself, "Do you want to meet her and get to know her more?"

Alex would shrug his shoulders before taking another piece of waffle, "Yeah sure"

"Alex that piece is way too big", she'd smirk as she'd watch him open his mouth wide, "Alexander don't you dare-", she'd stop talking as he'd put the piece in his mouth with a massive smile.

...

The following night, Beca would be sat in Chloe's dining room, sat across from Jesse at the other end of the table with Alex and Chloe either side of her. She'd notice the slight glares from Jesse throughout dinner and the awkward conversation happening around the table. Beca would smile as she'd look down recognising the old plates they were eating off of, "I remember these plates", she'd glance up to see Chloe looking back at her, "Your Mom used to use them all the time", she'd smirk.

Chloe would show a sad smile as she'd look back down at her plate, then shifting her gaze over to Alex who'd ask Beca, "You knew my Mom's Mom?"

Beca would sit back in her chair, finishing her dinner as she'd look back over Alex. "Yeah, I did. I used to come over for dinner all the time when I was growing up"

"He did honey, back when this was my Mom's house. Uncle Jesse and I grew up here", Chloe would keep her eyes down on her dinner, playing with the food using her fork.

"Do you uhm.. Do you like your present?", Beca would look over at Alex who had one of those motorised child-sized jeeps in a box behind him.

"It's bigger than the other cars I've played with", he'd look down at his food.

"Alex, where are your manners?", Chloe would snap at him gently.

"Sorry", he'd put his fork down looking back over at Beca now, smiling, "Thank you for my present Beca"

Beca would nod her head, smiling back a little at him. "That's okay", she'd hear Jesse clear his throat, glancing up at the guy rolling his eyes before sipping his drink.

"You don't mind me calling you Beca, do you? Just cause I don't know you well enough to call you Mom yet", Alex would speak up again.

Jesse would smirk again behind his napkin, earning a small glare from his sister before Chloe would look back at her son. "Alexander what's gotten in to you tonight?"
