"Chloe? Got the delivery you wanted", Jesse would walk into the store, carrying two boxes on top of each other.

"Thanks Jess", Chloe would speed out of the back room, out of breath as she'd make her way over to her brother.

"Everything okay?", he'd look worried at his sister.

"Yeah fine, just trying to get everything prepared", Chloe would smile a little up at him. "School dances and stuff coming up"

"Ahh yeah", he'd nod his head a little. "Do you need me to come to parent's evening with you for Alex? I'll be there anyway for my boys"

"No that's okay", she'd take one of the boxes now, opening it with the safety knife. "I think Beca is going to come with me"

"You sure that's a good idea?", he'd cross his arms, watching his younger sister start unpacking the boxes.

"What are you talking about Jesse?", Chloe would roll her eyes, leaning back against the front counter, wiping her hands on the small towel.

"I just don't see how you could forgive her so quickly after what she did", he'd shrug his shoulders.

"Maybe I haven't. Maybe I'm still doing this because Alex wants her in his life", she'd shrug her own shoulders back, copying him.

"Don't lie to me Chloe, I know you went on a date with her the other week", Jesse would point his finger at the redhead, watching the smirk slowly disappear from her face.

"Look, maybe she's changed", Chloe would let her arms drop down to her sides.

"Chloe listen to me", Jesse would walk over and put his hands on her arms, waiting for her to look up at him. "Even if she has changed do you really think she's ready to settle down and actually be a family with you and Alex?", he'd speak softly now, not wanting to start another argument.

"She's shown me over the past month how much she loves and cares for Alex", Chloe would smile a little thinking about her ex-fiance and their son together.

"Has she actually told you that she's not leaving again?", he'd drop his hands, putting them in his pockets, still looking down at his sister.

Chloe would sniff and shake her head a little, her eyes blinking quickly to keep the tears from falling. "No she hasn't"

"And do you really think you could go through her leaving again if she did? You know how it felt last time", he'd watch a single tear fall down her face now.

"The morning of our wedding", Chloe would gulp the tears down as she'd try to speak, "I thought we was going to spend forever together", she'd smirk sadly, wiping away the tears from her cheek as she'd look up at her brother. "I would have almost been okay with it if it turned out that she had fallen in love with someone else", she'd shrug her shoulders, looking down at her shoes. "But she just left. Without any reason", she'd bite down on her lip, "And I never thought I'd ever see the person who stole my heart again, but here she is", she'd shake her head, raising her head back up. "But I'm too scared to fall for her again because of what happened before"

Jesse would step forward, wrapping his arms around Chloe, feeling her press her face into his chest as she'd start to cry again. He'd let out a deep sigh as he'd rest his chin on top of her head, closing his own eyes in frustration. "I don't want to see you get hurt again", he'd mumble quietly before kissing the top of her head, squeezing her tight in the hug.

...

Later that evening, Chloe and Beca would be at the school for Alex parent's evening. Brian had offered to look after Alex for the night, so Chloe dropped him off at the house before driving her and Beca to the school.
