"Homeroom with Mr. Phillips?" A male voice asks behind Anne.

Anne turns around to see a tall boy with chocolate brown curly hair and hazel eyes talking to her. " Umm yeah." Anne says.

"We have the same first class then, mind if I accompany you and we walk to class together, new girl?" The boy  asks with a smirk. Anne raised her eyebrow then looks at Diana who just blushes. Anne also noticed that everyone was looking at them, the girls especially at this boy in front of him.

"Uhh, who are you again? And I believe that I am capable of walking myself to class on my own, thank you very much." The boy looks taken aback, Anne looks over at Diana who has a shocked look too. Anne mouths what at her, but before Diana could speak the bell rang for class. "Bye Di, see ya later." Anne quickly says shoving past the boy who was still taken aback, and was approached by his guy friends all cooing at him.

" That was a first bud! That new girl owned you." A tall boy with curly brown hair too says swinging an arm at him.

"Shut up Charlie." He says. " Well your charm surely didn't work on her that's for sure." Charlie says again.

"She's just-whatever, she' just a new girl, she knows nothing yet."

Homeroom

"Goodmorning class, I am Mr. Phillips, your homeroom. So everyone, since it's the first day I get to choose your own seats."

he's evil alright Anne thought. who chooses  seats for students on the very first day?

Everybody groaned and booed, but Mr. Phillips was already putting them into their seats.

"Shirley-Cuthbert" Mr. Phillips called as he pointed at the seat in the very back beside the window, where she got to see a good view of the school field and the big oak tree. She even saw a nest with eggs in it, she was fascinated by it.

"Blythe." Mr. Phillips says assigning Blythe on a seat on the right of Anne, but Anne wasn't paying attention to class.

(their desks are one seat apart and there is one row on the left , two rows on the middle and one on the right side of the class.)

Her first class was so dull, she didn't know what homeroom was, but now she knew.

It was extremely boring.

She had her hands propped up from the desk and her chin on it, she was beginning to doze off. When she felt someone throw a  piece of paper at her.

She looked at that person with a what-do-you-want-can't-you-see-i'm-sleeping-here look.

"What's your name, new girl?" He asked.

Oh it's that same boy he met earlier, Anne thought.

She didn't bother answering him, she didn't want to. She knew she was being rude, but she couldn't care less.

"New girl-new girl." He bothered her every few seconds. Throwing crumpled paper at her trying to get her attention. She didn't mind at first, she was used to being teased or something.

The boy stood up and walked up beside her looking at her. She didn't bother noticing him.

She hated boys, especially boys like him.

But when she felt him tug her braids and say

"Carrots!"

She got mad in an instant, she never liked her, as she thinks hideous red hair and someone just compared it to a vegetable.

"I'm not talking to you!" She screamed at him before punching him with her fist right on his face.

He flinched and he touched the blood that was coming out from his nose.

"Oops." She said sheepishly, she didn't mean to punch him too hard. He was just annoying her so much, she couldn't help but let her fiery temper get over her.

Everyone gasped at what happened.

"You just did." He managed to say with a foolish look on his face.

She was beginning to feel sorry but that just annoyed her again.

"Anne Shirley-Cuthbert, violence is not tolerated in this class, go to the principal's office right now, and detention for you today!" Mr. Phillips yells.

"It wasn't her fault sir, I-I was teasing her."

"Still no excuse for her behaviour, and for a girl at that!"

Everybody was looking at her. Just great, she got everybody's attention and got detention on the very first day of school.

She grabbed her things and stormed out of the class.

"I believe you know the way to the Nurse's Office , Gilbert Blythe." Mr. Phillips says more calmly now.

He dashes out of the classroom, with his sweater sleeves on his bleeding nose. Without thinking he runs after the redhead that was just turning to the left.

"Hey new girl!" He yelled. "I mean Anne." He says catching up to her.

"Don't call me new girl, or Anne." Anne says with venom in her words, still walking to god knows where.

"What shall I call you then, carrots?" He says playfully.

She tried her best not to get her fiery temper get over her and punch the guy again as she faced him trying to look calm.

"I thought that was enough for you to learn your lesson to not mess with me!" She says referring to his bloody nose. Anne wasn't a demon, because she pitied the state of the guy when she looked at him holding his sweater sleeve oh his nose and looking like a lost child,  even though he deserved what happened to him.

Anyone who knows Anne Shirley-Cuthbert knows that she is a sassy but a compassionate human being.

So Anne took out her handkerchief and gave it to him for his bleeding nose, he took it smiling at her as she smiled back.

"I'm Gilbert, but you can call me yours." He said wriggling his eyebrows, as held out his other hand to Anne.

"I'm Anne, Anne with an e." She says, ignoring his flirtatious comment and also his hand.

And he just stood there looking at her.

That's when Gilbert Blythe felt something he's never felt before.
