The day proceeded as usual. Moody was sent home, and so was Billy. he urged to go home and be excused because of his 'injuries', his parents heard of this and made sure that the Moody kid was suspended for what they did to their precious imbecile of a sun.
Anne was gloomy for the rest of the day. The events of the day invading her memory every once in a while.
It was so unfair. How come people who were superior could just get away with anything they wanted.
There has to be something she can do.
"Anne." A voice called out to her. It was Ruby. They were eating lunch and she must have spaced out.
"Huh, yeah Ruby?" She asks seeing everyone look at her, mostly worried, some curious aka someone with a Pye.
"Are you okay?" Ruby asked sweetly. Anne nodded with a yes and a bright smile, a fake one that is. To reassure her friends.
"You can tell us anything you know." Jane encouraged with a warm smile.
"Yeah, absolutely anything girl, we got your back," Tillie says with a determined smile.
"R-really?" She asks a bit dumbfounded. She hasn't realized she's grown this close to them. They were like her sisters, yeah even someone with a Pye.
"Just spit it out already, jeesh." Josie Pye says sternly, but the curiosity in her eyes cannot be hidden.
"Alright, alright. Gosh, you guys seriously." She says heaving out a sigh. "Wait, before that. Has anyone seen Diana?" Anne asks looking around, not seeing her bosom friend for a while.
"Now that you say it, I've only seen her this morning. And that was it." Tillie says and munches on her food.
"Hmm. I've been tryna call her but she doesn't answer." Anne says thinking to herself for a while before dismissing it. "You know what, let's just pummel her with questions tomorrow." They all agreed to that.
Thus, Anne told them the whole story. The mystery in the haunted bathroom, the unraveling to Moody's misery and the fight with Billy and how it ended miserably for Moody. And for the first time in forever they heard Josie say something different as she jolted up from her seat.
"Wait what? That's not right-" She found everyone looking at her, astounded like she was an alien imitating the Josie Pye. She cleared her throat and sat back down. She crossed her arms on her chest and huffed out. "I mean, It's not right but I don't care."
"Josie, is that you?" Jerry jokes.
"Who are you and what have you done to Josie Pye?" Cole went on ahead and stretched the joke further.
Everyone tried hard to hold in their laughter, but Anne broke the silence first and bellowed in laughter. She never thought she'd laugh because of Josie Pye saying something utterly nice for once. Everyone else laughed after her and their table became a loud one. Anne was somehow lifted from her gloomy spirit, but the events still stuck in the back of her mind.
There has to be something.
