*knock *knock *knock

"Please wait a moment." A voice says from inside the house. "Suzy stop pulling my leg." The voice says again.

"But, I want cookies, now!" A tinier voice whines. "Shush it I need to open the door."
There was a lot of dragging and whining heard before the door finally opened.

"Yes, how may I help you?" Says a panting girl.

"I am Anne and this is Jerry, we are your neighbors." Anne introduced.

"And we have brought you plum puffs as a welcome to our little town." Anne smiles rather sheepishly.

The girl smiled. "I'm Coleen and this is Suzy my little sister." The girl who looks about 10 years old introduces.

"Nice to meet you guys." Anne smiles back.

The mother then approached them holding a baby boy. She was looking distressed.

"What are you kids here for?" She asked, she said a bit hastily though she kept her hospitality being the owner of the house.

Anne clears her throat and elbows Jerry who was holding the basket.

"Oh right, we brought you plum puffs, as a welcoming gift." Jerry says handing them a container full of muffins. The woman took the container with a stern face.

"It's from the Cuthberts, they're the nice siblings just on the other side of the street just a few houses away from yours, mam." Jerry says confining his movements, it's no joke these kids mother is scary.

"Well thank ya'll. And thank them Cuthbert siblings for me." She says forcing a smile.

"You're very much welcome, we'll be off now." Anne says.

"Ooh baked goodies, now I don't wike cookies, I want these." Little Suzy says reaching for the plum puffs. Her big sister Coleen smiled bashfully at Anne Jerry which is like an apology for her family's behaviour. Anne and Jerry smiled back.

"Aish, stop it Suzy, you should still wait for your brother Cole. You made him buy you cookies alright." The woman says closing the door.

"That was..." Anne started. "Splendid." She ended with a quirky smile.

Jerry chuckled at that, they share the same thoughts. "Come on let's go."

And with that they walked away from the Mackenzie's house. The sky was already turning from sky blue and bright white colors to pinkish orange shade as the sun starts to set.

"Hey Anne look, an ice cream stand." Jerry points at the park and pulls Anne's arm.

"Please Anne, pretty please with a blueberry on top?" Jerry begged like a kid.

Isn't it cherry on top? "Ugh no way kid, I got no money on me and it's already getting dark. Marilla's gonna freaking kill me." Anne complains.

"I have money on me so it'll be my treat, come on." Jerry persuaded even more.

"Why didn't you say so in the first place, come on Jer-bear, the ice creams are waiting for us." Anne says positively and firmly as she nods to the direction if the ice cream stand pulling Jerry by his arm.

"What a genius you are Anne. You're unbelievable." Jerry shook his head while taking his money out from his pockets.

"Thanks." Anne replied playing with Jerry.

"It was not a compliment." Jerry exclaimed.

"It sounded like one." Anne replied.

"It was not, you're a bad genius. Bad!Bad!" Jerry exclaimed.
