Sunday, Anne was just cooped up in their house. She invited Diana over and she brought along Minnie May, who begged to come and Mrs. Barry insisted on letting her come, to Diana's dismay. Her little sister is often a nuisance, but today she was actually quite well behave, apart from Minnie May changing the channels as she thought it was a funny joke, but other than that she was an angel. And in the end, they binge watched F.R.I.E.N.D.S . Marilla and Matthew were also at home all day, well Matthew was at the barn in the backyard for the most part. And Marilla baked some cookies and most of the time , she knits clothings in the living room as Anne, Diana and Minnie May who specifically ate most of the cookies, watched tv.
Monday morning came, and Anne has smashed the alarm clock once again. Marilla was furious, and punished Anne by reducing her allowance. Anne wasn't happy about it, but she has to obey Marilla. And she did destroy an alarm clock for the third time already.
So she gets ready for school, hoping it isn't as bad as her morning. She didn't bother dressing up fancy, just some sweatpants with a black top, her classic braids and her white cap and she wears her black rubber shoes. And with her basic fresh look make-up, she gets breakfast and goes out the door to meet with Diana as usual.
Diana greeted her with a huge smile. "Pleasant morning, Anne." Anne greeted her back with a delightful "Oh Diana, I'm glad to see you this pleasant morning-" Anne smiled widely , but soon it dropped as she saw who was behind Diana.
Gilbert Blythe, of all people. Of course he had to be there. So much more for hoping her morning to school and at school wouldn't be as bad as her morning.
"Morni-" Gilbert started but was soon cut off by Anne.
"Come on Diana, we have to hurry to school, we might get late." Anne practically screams at her bestfriend attempting not so graciously to walk away.
"You did not let me finish, carrots." Gilbert says with a hint of tease.
"I wasn't meaning to let you finish, Blythe." Anne faces him.
Diana stands there, with her arms crossed and head shaking as if to say 'Here they go again'.
"And for goodness sake Blythe, stop it with the silly nicknames, it's so inconvenient!" Anne says again, with as much authority as she can over Blythe, but she isn't sure how that went out as she just sees him smirking in front of her.
"You can give me a silly nickname too, to be fair, carrots." Gilbert teased.
"Is he always like this? " Anne asks Diana who just shrugs, clearly enjoying her two friends banter.
"Ugh, come on, let's walk to school already." Anne grabs Diana. "W-Wait Anne, Gil is giving us a ride." She says pointing to Gilbert's car, she didn't notice was parked in front of their house.
Anne tried to protest, but Diana was already dragging her to the car, they both ride in the back, making Gilbert look like their driver. And they made their way to school. It was quite near actually, well if you made a shortcut in the woods by walking. But with a car it was a further distance.
They rolled their windows down enjoying the morning breeze. Anne's braids swaying in the wind. And Diana's jet black hair swaying as well. Anne looks at Diana's jet black hair, she often wished she had black hair instead of her dreaded red hair. She always imagined herself as a princess named Cordelia, when she was a kid. She made up dozens of stories and had fun with them. She started reminiscing about them that she didn't notice they were already at school and she also didn't quite notice the pair of hazel brown eyes constantly looking at her from the rearview mirror, those eyes were enjoying the view. But to his dismay they were already at school.
"Thank you for the ride, Gil." Diana says as soon as they parked and they got out of the car.
"No problem, Di." He says with a smile to Diana, he then turns to Anne with a 'aren't-you-gonna-thank-me' look.
"Oh come on carrots, I know you can't express your happiness when you're with me, but I didn't know you couldn't express your gratitude to me as well?" Gilbert scoffed at his own joke, Anne glares at him.
"Why should I thank you, mr. driver, I didn't insist on riding in your car in the first place. So if you think you're all mr. gentleman for letting us ride, for me, sorry not sorry it's a whooping, no." Anne says with an attitude as she comes face to face with her enemy. As in literally face to face, with just a few inches apart. Anne was facing him with a full on competetive look, and Gilbert who was leaning on his car, just simply can't avert his gaze from the redhead infront of him.
Faces inches apart, they could feel each other's breaths on their faces. They were so close they could kiss.
"Oh-kay girl friend, you might wanna back off, before someone sees you two and rack up a rumor." Diana says and bedazzles the two making Anne back up and be dragged by Diana to the school building.
Gilbert was left kinda frozen and unmoving in the moment, but his heart was thumping and ringing through his ears. Filling up his mind and making the muscles in his mouth turn up into a smile.
'I've never felt this before, why is this redhead so annoying with her attitude but she still makes me want to know her even more? How can she be so bad to me but I want her so bad? How can she be so simple but I'm always in awe when she's near? Somebody explain to me what's happening here?
Gilbert thought to himself.
(Wow didn't I just lowkey made a poem right there? LOL)
