(It's still friday, that friday.)
"Can you believe he fell on his face because he clumsily tripped on a ball?" Josie Pye was wheezing, talking about the accident that happened in gym class, it all spread around so quickly and knowing Josie Pye she found out about it as quick as it went out.
Jane, Ruby, Anne and Josie, were all sitting down on the grassy field, under a big shady tree. Classes were over but they were all gathered there. They were all going for cheerleading tryouts. It was today. Josie was still sour because she found out that Anne was actually invited by the cheerleading leader, Sabrina, herself. They were all just waiting for Diana and then they can all go together.
"Well, yes. We were there and we saw it happen." Anne said earning a sly glare from Josie who just continued laughing. "Oh of course you were, I forgot." She said rolling her eyes.
"Me, Anne and Ruby has P.E.class together, Josie." Jane said.
"We were there too, Josie. And I do admit I felt so bad for Moody, but seems like he's a laughing stock of the school now." Ruby says beaming onto Josie. "Oh dear, Ruby. It's hilarous how clumsy Moody is. Don't you think?" Josie asked.
"Well, I guess so-" Ruby says, unsure.
"Guys!" Diana yelled at them running towards them.
"Sorry it took me so long, I just had to meet up with Char and tell him he can't walk me home today." Diana explained in one breath. The mention Charlie, who always walks her home earned her a few teasing looks.
"Oh Diana, you guys are so cute!" Ruby exclaimed.
"It is ever so romantic that a guy walks you home, now isn't it?" Anne giggled looking at her bosom friend with a knowing smile.
"Oh shut up guys, whatever." Diana says blushing." Atleast I'm not like someone out there that keeps on ignoring a boy's request to walk her home." Diana teased. Anne glared at her, knowing exactly what she was talking about. She had been ignoring Gilbert Blythe's request to walk her home. Saying she was quite capable of walking herself home, even without Diana, who usually walked home with Charlie now.
"I believe that a girl is quite capable of walking herself home." Anne declared. Ruby, Jane and Josie had no idea what they were talking about.
"But Anne you just said, how romantic it was to have a guy walk you home. You sure are bipolar." Josie laughed a bit rudely, but everyone else laughed with her including Anne.
" Well, that's for Diana, for me. I don't think so." Anne says in between laughs.
"Anne you are the weirdest girl I have ever met." Ruby says looking at Anne.
"That's Anne Shirley-Cuthbert for you, the weird girl." And they just laughed all together. Josie was secretly rolling her eyes. They finally noticed the time, and they went on to tryouts.
Sabrina, Maxeen and Abegail were all waiting for them. Tryouts was fun but was also like being in a pressure cooker. Being judged and all. But the girls gave all their best, and they all got in.
They were all heading home, it was 8 pm already. The cheerleading team insisted that they have a celebratory party for the new members. So they went to a videoke room and they all had fun, excluding the part where Josie and Sabrina were cat fighting, it was all swell.
Anne already told Marilla and Matthew beforhand that she'll be home late, but neither expected it would be this late.
Anne and Diana walked arm in arm through the shady forest path. Clutching onto each other. Anne was haunting Diana with a scary story and she scared herself too somehow.
They could hear the hooting of an owl, and crickets by the grass.
"Oh Anne, we haven't walked home together in days. I missed you." Diana exclaimed, smiling sweetly at Anne.
"We walk to school in the morning together, silly." Anne says chuckling at her bosom friend.
The wind was getting stronger as the moon sgines brighter in the sky. The moonlight passing through the cracks of the trees was light for the two girl's path.
The two friends finally made their way through the forest path and out into the streets, where lamposts were lit and a sidewalk is to be walked on.
Almost reaching their home, Anne halted to a stop, making Diana stop two as they were still arm in arm.
"Anne, what's the matter?" Diana asks but Anne wasn't speaking she was just looking out somewhere, Diana followed her gaze and her eyes fell upon the side of the street where a car was parked. A guy who just got out of his car, was opening the door for a lady. The guy looked like a total gentleman and the lady was so pleased and happy. The lady even hugged the guy, smiling at each other, they looked so sweet.
Sure this was just an ordinary sight. But what was different about it that Anne kept on looking with a curious gaze upon them?
