Previously:

I was the first to greet him at the door, attempting to stop him in his tracks by putting my hand on his chest. "You ok?" I ask concerned.

He just nodded his head before going to the back towards the dungeon... the dungeon where they put his mate, Cassandra.

I refrain from looking at Joseph, who I can tell by my peripheral vision who was just smiling. I felt a heavy hand slam on my shoulder, causing me to jump a little and look at Joseph. "I think he sees the other benefits of a mate. I think your time with him is over." I look away from him, and then the pack. "I'm sorry you got attached, but you already know what needs to be done."

Lucifer POV:

I tap the pencil on my desk as Calvin and I silently stared at each other. Its my fault though, I keep thinking about Livy's whereabouts. I looked for her for a while, but when Calvin arrived Angel insisted that I took the matters into my own hands considering she was in trouble with Max for fighting while pregnant.

"This is a mess." He mumbles flipping through the papers. "What am I going to tell their families?" He drops the pen and wipes his face down with his hands.

I don't say anything. He seems to be talking more to himself. "Did you really have to kill them!?" He yells catching me off guard.

"It's kind of our protocol for everything." I shrug. "Look on the bright side. 30 showed up and only 28 are dead." I smile, but me smile wasn't reciprocated.

"This is funny to you!?" He asks.

"Lower your damn voice before I gladly kick you ass again. Normally our kill rate is a hundred percent, so show some appreciation. She's the one the showed up and tried to kill me."

He seemed to have cooled some. I'm not sorry that he lost some enforcements, but I'm sorry that he's sad about it. "She really tried to kill you?" He asks.

"Yea. With a gun."

"Did she say why?" He asks.

"She basically wanted to protect what she had with you. Something about how she accidentally accepted our bond after she rejected me and couldn't have you if I was still alive. Her only solution happened to had been, 'go to his territory and try to kill him, without an army to back me up'." He smiles, but it fades as quickly as it appeared. "But I'm curious..." I have his attention. "What'd you do?" I ask.

"Excuse me?" He asks confused.

"Well, Cassandra Bella Dove-Phenny has been wanting to kill me since the day we met. She didn't then, but all of sudden she actually really wants me dead? Something happened from the time you guys left here, and then." He resist the urge to look away but hold contact, but he's not alpha.  Even though he's close to mastering it, he hasn't. He's guilty. "Now I've thought very little about this, but it seems like she was trying to prove something to someone important to her. Someone that was worth the fraction of her enforcements and best friend. Then I just instantly knew that someone had to be you or her son. But your son is like 4, she has nothing to prove to the munchkin. So, what'd you?"

He laughs and shakes his head. "She told me she loved you," I refrain from moving even though this news has blown me away, "I tried to control my emotions but I got really mad and yelled at her, and then I left, I ignored her texts and calls. I just couldn't be around her. I should've believed her when she said she didn't want to be in love with you." Wait in love? "I have to go see her." He tells me.

"You can." He stands up. "Tomorrow morning." I finish. He looks at me dumbfounded. "You didn't finish the paperwork and it has to be reviewed and processed. Which could take over night, so tomorrow morning." I smile.

"Just for a minute." He kind of asks.

"Yea, sure." I smile. "Tomorrow morning." His blank face turned to stone as I messed with him. "Hey, lighten up. If I liked you, and you were my friend, I'd be more than happy to let you see her. But I don't like you, and you'll never be my friend, so sit down and finish the paper work." He growls lowly, but I'm not threatened by him.

He sits down and the room remains quiet, and I can tell that he hates this, it's a form that we created simply to irritate the concerned one of their incarcerated friend. Our pack is built on little things of torture like this.

My mind draws blank, and I want Livy to walk through the door but I know it's not going to happen, it just pisses me off that it's exactly what she thinks but not. I just need to find her.

I want to text her, but that seems like I don't care and that could deliver the wrong message. I do text Joseph to come here though, because I don't want to be in here as Calvin fills out the forms and if I asked him directly, he would never show.

The door opens and Jospeh's head pop in the crack. "Have you heard from Livy?" I ask him.

"No, man, no one has."

"Unbelievable." I growl.

He enters the room, closing the door behind him. "She's an Omega, Lucifer, even if she'd yelled where she was going no one would pay her any mind. So disappearing isn't much different, and isn't your mate downstairs, why do still want Livy?" He asks.

Calvin turns around in his chair, his eyes burning through Jospeh's soul. Congratulations Joseph, now Calvin gives us the same look. "Dude, I'm-" I stop myself as I look at Calvin, who's pen was moving, but ears completely focused on the conversation.

I pull out my phone and text Joseph that I'm in love with Livy, I can't say it out load because it gives me a vulnerable spot, and Livy is already a east target.

"Lucifer... what the fuck?" Wasn't exactly the reaction was thinking I was going to get. "How'd that even happen?"

"First of all, chill out." I say turning stoned face. "It's a great thing."

"No, Lucifer it's not. You're throwing your life away. If you go downstairs and kiss Cassandra right now, you won't feel a damn thing for Livy." Calvin stands up, slamming the packet of work on the desk, ready to murder Joseph. "Sit, down, I'm 99.9% sure you're the reason she showed up here on some stupid shit. How do you expect to take care of a whole pack and you can't even take care of your wife."

I stepped to the side as Calvin shoved and held Jospeh against the door, and I let him. Not because he deserved it, but because his behavior from when I told him and his following responses.

It's interesting watching them fight because I thought for sure Calvin was going to win, but I guess I under estimated Joseph during practices. Or the simple fact that I'm better than him. Calvin is losing and to my surprise it kind of lower my self esteem from when I fought Calvin because I had a harder time... is Joseph a better fighter than me?

I pull Joseph off of Calvin, tossing him on the other side of the desk, forgetting about the chair being there. And looking at Calvin I see why Jospeh was winning... side note, I should have know Joseph would never be a better fighter than me... Calvin was fighting without a purpose. Something was wrong.

"What the fuck, Lucifer?" Joseph groaned getting up as he held his head.

"Get out, and I'm going to talk to you later." He leaves the room rubbing his head, happy to be gone.

"I'm not going to lie, you probably can't trust me, but you're conflicted and you tried to hurt Joseph for no reason. Yea it seemed that it was because of what he said about you and Cassandra... although he wasn't entirely wrong... but you're going through some things."

"I'm not." He says standing up and yanking at the hem of his shirt. "Big if I were, you'd be the last person I'd talk to."
