The Weird Existence of Henry

Maiingay na hiyawan ang patuloy na musika na bumabalot sa Williamson University. First win ng Basketball Varsity this Season kaya sobrang hyped ng lahat, well, except me. I couldn't care less about basketball. It's not that I hate it, it's just that...I'm not that interested in sports unlike everybody else. Tahimik lang akong tinatapos ang essay ko sa isang minor subject habang nag-uusap sina Dave, Wes at Simon. Sa wakas, I don't have to avoid my friends. I already told them about me and Henry. Sinabi ko na sa kanila kung paano kami nagsimula. Finally, tinantanan na ako ni Martha at Cindy.

The girls are talking about the big party this coming friday. It's going to be a celebration for the Basketball Varsity Team. They're planning the usual, outfits and such.

"How about you Gwen? You comin'??" pagsisiguro ni Stacey.
Alam niya kasing ayaw ko sa mga ganoon. Party's never my scene. Pero usually, wala akong magawa kundi sumama sa kanila.

"She has to come. And bring your man. We have a lot of talking to do," biglang sabat ni Dave.

Oh here we go with the overly protective attitude again. Napairap nalang ako sa kawalan. Sus kung alam niyo lang.

"Hay nako, there's no need for that. We're nowhere near serious Dave. We're just having fun," paliwanag ko sa kaniya.

"Still. We know that guy. Alam na alam ko ang gawalan nun Gwen," dagdag naman ni Simon.

"Guys I told you, it's fine okay? I got this. I got me," giit ko naman.

"We still need to talk to him Gwen. So that he knows who he's messing with," ang sabi naman ni Wes.

Natahimik ang lahat. He usually doesn't intervene in matters like this. Hindi nalang ako umapila. Alam ko namang hinding-hindi ako mananalo sa kanila eh.

"So it's settled. You and your boyfriend would be coming with us to party!!!" hiyaw bigla ni Cindy.

"Fine! Alam ko namang hinding-hindi ako mananalo sa inyo eh," ang sabi ko nalang.

Friday came. I already told Henry about us going to the Party. He was totally cool with it. But he says his friends wanted to meet me as well. Kinabahan agad ako!!! I didn't know Henry's friends. Hell, kakabalik lang niya galing states! I have a lot of things to worry about like, what dress to wear, things I should say and most importantly...not getting caught!

I was dabbing lip gloss on my lips when my new roommate, Izzy short for Isabel walked in.

"So you're going to the party too?" tanong niya, sitting on my bed with a pizza on her hand.

"Yeah, pinipilit kasi ako ng mga friends ko eh," sagot ko naman. "Ikaw? Any plans?"

"Nah, I cancel plans to hang out with myself," natawa nalang ako sa sagot niya. Then, she immediately went back to watching a series on Netflix.

Sa bagong dorm ko, tatlo kami sa isang kwarto. My new roommates are Izzy and Veronica. They're very nice. We never get to hang out that often kasi medyo busy sa school. Pero ang napansin ko, medyo may pagka-introvert tong si Izzy. She loves her company. She's very laid-back and chill. She reminds me Henry actually. Walang tatalo sa pagiging chill ng lalaking yun.

Veronica's very silent though. Hindi siya masyadong pala-kwento. Pero kapag kinakausap mo, marami siyang masasabi. I found her very cynical. She's very interested in documentaries which for me, makes her even cooler.
