Winds howl
I spend tonight alone
The rain tattoos its rhythm
I am surrounded by sense and sound
The words scratched on an empty page
The dulled notes of men's song
Drowned by the torrent
The deafening rhythm of the rains
Through cracks
It all joins me
Night's whispers
And the heavens' misery
But here I am
At peace as if surrounded by calm
I am not surrounded by calm
I manufacture it myself
The calm offered
By the men of this world
Is easily lost like the sound of their song
When faced with howling wind
So I have my peace
Peace no man can take away or give me
Peace and love
For the music of tonight's storm.
