Tonight I went to stand 'neath the stars
To stare into the midnight skies
At 11:11 I went
To the wooden deck behind my house
And I lifted my tired eyes to the heavens
Many hours of sleep I have lost
Just in these past few days alone
Anxiety, questions
They rob me of my rest and repose
Instead I toss and turn and wonder.
What do the coming months hold?
All the change and closing chapters
It's confusing
Disorienting to say the very least
It's terrifying and exciting and utterly unknown
I don't know at all what tomorrow entails
But I know the stars see my struggles
And they shine
They look down upon me as I look upon them
They have witnessed every challenge before.
They remind me that my troubles, however great
Are fleeting, while they - and my hopes -
Are constant, always
They remind me that only on the darkest nights
Can I look up to witness their beauty
And their promise.
