Lisa's POV
I heard how the birds starts to summon me. It made me start my day as happy as it should be as I opened my eyes.
I stretched both of the arms then followed by scratching my eyes.
I looked at the alarm clock on the table beside."Too early" I whispered.
It is 6:02 am.
The morning ambiance made me shiver so I held the remote of the air-condition then turned it off for it makes the temperature more colder.
"Goodmorning" I tried to greet the woman beside me with voiceless.
She moved and cling in me like a koala.
"5 minutes baby" She requested.
"Come on, it's a good day to start." I excitedly spoken.
She lifted her chin that made her face met mine.
"Let's start it here." She laughed
"Are you sure?." I ride with her joke.
What a beautiful view. Seeing her face as I woke up, I won't be sick.
"Kidding." Then she crashed her face again on my chest then tightened her grip on my torso.
"Unbelievable." I sighed
"Yeah you're unbelievable." She responded.
I smiled and start fondling her upper back. I wish we could be like this always.
"Can you hear that?" She jolted up.
"Huh? What?" I asked.
"I hear sobbing." She said.
Sobbing?
I can't hear sobs though."That! Can you hear it?"
Well, yeah a sob.
Where could it be?"Yes I can hear it." I took off the blanket from covering me and then sat at the edge of the bed.
"I think it's from the other room." She moved out from the bed and start walking through the door.
"Hey, wait." I followed her.
The sobbing became more loud as Jennie opened the door exposing the hallway through the other room and through the stair case.
"It comes from my Mom's room." I stopped and so Jennie faced me.
She held me with her right hand.
"Let's go." She cling into my arms.
Every step I'm taking gets harder while hearing the sob became louder as we are approaching my Mom's room.
I held the knob then stay still for a while then I looked at Jennie.
Fuck! I'm worried. No, we are both worried.
I was nervous of what will I be seeing as I open this door.
"Go ahead." She caressed my shoulder.
My hands were trembling.
I opened the door exposing my weeping mother. Sitting on her bed while holding and looking at the papers.
"Mom?" I called her.
But she wasn't able to lift up her head to welcomed me with her gaze.
"M-mom." I heard my voice starts to crack.
Every step I'm making gets more massive as I feel her dejected presence.
I reached the lady who is drowned by her streaming tears.
"Mom what's wrong?" I kneeled down to reach her face.
"Y-yo-your dad." She talked
"What's wrong with dad?." I said, caressing her cheeks.
Seeing her like this, creates pain in me, inside.
"Mom, w-what's wrong with him?" I said while my tears starts to fall out.
Her sobbing gets soundly and harder.
"Mom." I held her in my arms.
"Tell me what's wrong?" I said then I felt Jennie's palm landed on my back slowly fondling.
"Your dad, ha-has a coronary artery disease. " She handed me the papers she's holding.
"It's getting worse Lisa." She added.
A heart disease?
How come?
Why he didn't tell this to us?
D-dadEven though it kills me, I read the papers. It is stated that Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the most common type of heart disease. It is the leading cause of death.
I gulped hard and I could feel my throat aching.
CAD happens when the arteries that supply blood to heart muscle become hardened and narrowed. This is due to the buildup of cholesterol and other material, called plaque, on their inner walls. This buildup is called atherosclerosis. As it grows, less blood can flow through the arteries. As a result, the heart muscle can't get the blood or oxygen it needs. This can lead to chest pain (angina) or a heart attack. Most heart attacks happen when a blood clot suddenly cuts off the hearts' blood supply, causing permanent heart damage.
Over time, CAD can also weaken the heart muscle and contribute to heart failure and arrhythmias. Heart failure means the heart can't pump blood well to the rest of the body. Arrhythmias are changes in the normal beating rhythm of the heart.
"I think that's the reason why he did everything to convince you in managing our company." My mom cried.
"No, this can't be." My hands went paralyzed causing the papers to fall down. My knees are trembling that made me crashed downfloor.
"Lili." Jennie hug me from back.
"Why he didn't tell this to us?" I saw how my tears make its way to the floor till' my sight gets foggy.
"It's getting worse Lisa" My Mom ended up.
"No, no! This is not true! He's lying, right? I know he just planned this to make me manage his company." I know I'm being too much but still, I wanna stand that he's just lying again.
"I think he's not, Lkli." Jennie stated then cried.
"Lisa." Mom patted my shoulder.
"Mom he's lying , right?" I tried to believe that he's just playing on us.
"Shhhh." Jennie tightened her hug.
"Nini, I can't take this!" I surrendered.
"Sshhh, baby you have to." She said, helping me to accept the fact.
"We have to, Lisa." Mom added.
Even though he hurted me a lot. He is still my father and nothing can change that. Even though he lied and take everything from me, still I can take knowing that he is suffering from this.
Dad?
Why did you keep this from me?from us?
You're really a liar and selfish dad."We will talk to him."
"We can get through this." The two hugged me.I know, I can help him in one way only. I know, he doesn't want to neglect his company without someone who'll follow his steps.
I understand how he ended up with those decisions.
How he ended up lying.I stopped from crying and cleared my throat.
"I-
"I'll take his responsibilities in the company."
"I will accept being the CEO of the Manoban group."
I said that made both of them to scan me with their eyes.
I know, it is my responsibility as the only child of Carol and Marco Manoban.
This is the right thing to do.
I am Lalisa Manoban.
