TW: bullying, injury, mockery
*BRING*
Patton gathered up his things swinging his backpack over his shoulder heading quickly out of the library.
Going through the hallways, people purposely knocked into him on the way to his locker, he tried not to trip over his own feet.
Patton swallowed hard and approached his locker taking the sticky note out of his pocket with his locker combination on it.
*Shh* *shh* *shh*
Locked
*Shh* *shh* *shh*
Locked
*Shh* *shh* *shh*
Still locked
Patton hit his locker softly in an attempt to get it to open
*Shh* *shh* *shh*
After a few tries, the small locker swung open revealing an almost empty interior except for a photo strip most likely from a photo booth probably left by the previous owner. Patton sighed putting the photo strip in his pocket and placing his bag into the empty locker taking out the books he'd need for his next class. The small boy looked up at a clock on the wall quickly closing his locker and walking quickly down the hallway.
Suddenly he found himself face down on the floor his things scattered about the hallway. Snickers and hushed voices echoed in his head.
"Ow," he said trying to pick himself up. Patton looked up only for the geeky boy's eyes to meet his. Patton felt a blush cross his face. He quickly grabbed his things rushing off to the bathroom as fast as possible. 'You couldn't even last one day without embarrassing yourself' he said to himself setting his books on the edge of the sink. Patton brushed his hand across his face seeing a bruise forming on his face. He sighed taking one last glance of himself in the mirror before grabbing his books and heading out of the bathroom.
The smaller boy walked about the hallways occasionally being bumped into by someone making his way to his first-hour class. Finally, Patton stopped in front of the classroom. He took a deep breath opening the door stepping into the classroom.
He glanced around looking for an open desk when his eyes landed on the only unoccupied desk in the classroom.
Right next to the boy,
in the grey polo.
Patton sat next to the boy a nervous look on his face. The smaller boy unpacked his things glancing over at the boy next to him.
He flashed the taller boy a small smile forced smile as he turned back to organize his things.
Patton found himself staring at the boy, his darker brown neat hair, his shirt, and glasses that made him look so sophisticated and smart. 'get ahold of yourself, Patton, you don't even know his name. Besides, he deserves someone way better than you. He could never love you.
Patton was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the teacher yelling from the front of the room.
He had heard about this teacher, she was in charge of the theater program and had a short temper. Best to stay on her good side.
The teacher listed names for role, saying the name Logan which apparently belonged to the boy next to him. That's a nice name he thought before hearing his name be called. The brunette looked up from his desk to see the whole class looking at him. All eyes. Attentively staring.
Patton could feel his nerves heighten as he swallowed hard. "H-here...I go by Patton though..." He managed to stutter out.
"Why don't you come up and introduce yourself?" She said in a peppy, excited voice.
Crud
The smaller boy stood up from his seat making his way to the front of the class introducing himself. When the teacher finally allowed him to go back to his seat, he felt something hit his arm, he looked down to see something stuck to his elbow.
A spitball.
Classic....
He rushed back to his seat tears burning the backs of his eyes burying his face in his arms.
*Time skip brought to you by 'short insomniacs'*
Patton flopped down onto his bed. Well, it was more of a mattress than a bed at the time since they hadn't had a chance to put the sheets on yet. He closed his eyes thinking about all the ways he embarrassed himself that day and everything he did wrong when he heard the door open. Dad's home.
Patton made his way down the stairs seeing his father closing the screen door to the house, setting his things on the kitchen table. The man took a deep breath running a hand through his hair before noticing his son standing on the carpeted steps.
"Hey kiddo, how was school," he said unpacking his things. "Ok, I guess" the boy responded coming all the way down the steps and facing his father.
"My goodness, what did you do to your face!" The man said taking his son's face in his hands with a worried expression. He took an ice pack out of the freezer wrapping it in a pale blue towel before handing it to his younger son.
"Be careful ok, I don't want you to get any more hurt, why don't you go check up on V. He's outside on the porch," the father said with a reassuring smile.
Patton nodded holding the towel-wrapped parcel to his face heading outside to see Virgil on his laptop waving at someone.
"Hey V! Who ya waving at?" He asked inquisitively.
"Just the neighbor," he replied pointing across the street at their supposed neighbor.
Oh. Gosh.
Their neighbor was Logan.
Patton's eyes widened before quickly grabbing Virgils arm and pulling him inside.
"Hey what the heck?" Virgil questioned as he rubbed his forearm. "Oh, I know, someone has a crush," he said a smirk on his face.
"I do not!" He retorted feeling his face get warm.
"Whatever you say"
