TW: homophobia
If you asked Logan If he was nervous for school he would say "of course not". If you asked him if he told Patton about the text blast he would become squeamish and abruptly change the subject. But whether he was telling the truth or not, both boys went to school on Monday like everyone else.
With backpacks slung over their shoulders, the boys walked through the school doors. Logan kept his head down. He practically dragged Patton along with him trying to avoid anyone who may have seen the text blast (which he was sure was practically everyone). Patton put his feet down hard forcing Logan to stop.
"What's the rush, Lo? We have plenty of time before the class starts. Is something wrong?" the smaller boy questioned placing his hands on his hips. They both stood there for a second, Logan at a loss at words. Until a group of kids walked by, stifling their laughter.
"Why don't you kiss already fags!" one of the kids shouted. And so it begins. Logan growled at the kids before turning to look back at Patton. He had a mix of mortified and confusion planted on his face. He slowly turned back to Logan.
"D-did you tell-" he started
"Of course not, I would never betray your trust." Logan looked around for a moment. "Let's go somewhere less in the open." Patton nodded sheepishly as he let Logan pull him along.
-----
"I can't believe them," Patton whispered to himself.
"I know it is not Ideal, but as of now there is nothing we can do, I am sure this was not their intention, " Logan responded.
Patton, unfortunately, knew Logan was right. He nodded and they went back out into the hallway. As they walked the boys could hear slurs being whispered and an occasional "sinner!" being shouted their way.
The boys parted ways as they went to their separate classes. Patton sat down at his desk to see 'FAG' carved into the wooden top. He kept his head down all class trying to focus on his work.
After what seemed like hours the class ended. Patton made his way to the door before getting his things slapped out of his hands. "Watch it homo," the kid sneered as he pushed past Patton. He picked his stuff back up, sniffling a little. The smaller boy went to the teacher's desk his body shaking.
"Mrs. Prince?.. kids keep making fun of me and they wrote a slur on my desk..." The teacher laughed.
"They're just joking around sweetheart," she spoke whilst wiping off the whiteboard. "lighten up kiddo, they did the same thing when I was your age," she commented. The teacher turned back towards Patton, resting her hands on the desk. "Just don't let them get to ya and you'll be fine."
Was she right? Maybe he was overreacting if the teacher doesn't even seem worried. Was this normal middle school behavior? Some kids even hit him hard on the back flowed by a "Just joking dude."
Patton and Logan had decided to stick very close all day in order to survive their classes.
Patton was waiting for Logan at his locker, mindlessly flipping through his loose papers. Suddenly his papers hit the floor. Jan had pined Patton against the locker a mad look on his face. " I'm surprised I didn't notice you were a queer before," he sneered.
"J-Janus please stop, p-please," Patton whimpered out
"What?! Your 'snowy?!' For being a sinner?! A Queer?! A disappointment to your Father?! An embarrassment and someone unlovable..." Jan loosened his grip slightly. They both stood there not moving or saying anything. For a moment-just a moment- Patton saw a hint of fear in the bullies' eyes.
"Jan I-"
"Janus stop!" Logan practically screamed. Janus dropped Patton and ran in the direction of the restroom. "Are you alright? I'm so sorry I was assisting a peer and I assumed Janus wasn't here as of today-"
"Lo..he-he looked scared.." Patton said quietly. Before Logan had a chance to respond Patton was running in the direction Janus went in Leaving Logan to stand alone in the hallway confused as to what he had just seen happen.
