TW: cursing, mention of harassment/ bullying, crying

The parent traded across the grass and weaved in and out of headstones. Remy couldn't have gone far and the car was still out front. As Emile wandered in search of Remy they heard a far-off voice yelling. They followed the noise eventually leading to where it was coming from.

Remy was sitting on a stone bench witch appeared to be crumbling. Running their hand through their hair so many times Emile swore they were about to yank it out. The teen was talking very loudly into their cellphone. Emile strained to hear the pieces of the conversation that they could put together.

"I know right and then he just- yeah exactly!! Like he thinks he can just like show up and pretend everything's all-, yeah I know right!

I know!

Yeah!

Gurl, you have no idea.

No, he actually went along with it!

Well like what do ya want me to do?!

No, I can't!

I can't check because then they'd see me and try to convince me to talk to him!

Alright

Yeah, you better!

Bye boo,"

The phone was shoved in Remy's pocket before they put their face in their hands. Emile wanted to comfort them but they knew Remy need space right now. It was hard to just watch. Emile almost didn't notice the man walking towards the distressed teen. He sat down next to them. Remy flinched hard when he put a hand on their shoulder. He was trying, Emile would give him that. Just not exactly in the right way.

"Get away from me, I don't want your fake sympathy," they said standing up.

"Look, you have a right to be upset. I get what-"

"Stop," they cut him off. "Don't say you get what I'm going through because you don't. You have no idea," they said through gritted teeth.

"You don't know what it's like to be told your broken and useless by someone you thought you could trust, you don't know what it's like to get harassed for just being your fucking self! You don't know what it's like to get assaulted and bullied and the school system does nothing about it because your 'bringing on yourself for being like that'" they put air quotes around the words as they stepped closer to him.

"You don't know what it's like to not even be able to go into a bathroom without being harassed, and you definitely don't know what it's like to have some jocks pin you to a wall and try to pull down your pants in front of the whole school while they place bets on whether or not you have a d*ck!!!" They screamed to keep themselves from crying.

Before he could retort Remy pushed him out of the way and started to run off. Emile stood in front of them telling them running away won't help anything. They hit Emile's chest and arms as they restrained them firmly but gently. They struggled and thrashed against Emile's hold.

When they finally let up they clung to the parent. Painful sobs wracked the teen's body as Emile sat them down on the bench.

The man sat down next to them silently asking if it was okay. Remy was too out of it to resist as he rubbed the teens back. The two parents exchanged looks. They both obviously were thinking the same thing. He felt like such a fool. But he knew that he was going to do everything in his power to make sure it never ever happened again.

"I'm so sorry Remy, I swear...I'll protect you no matter what,"
