So maybe I shouldn't have put up that bit about HMR. And I probably shouldn't further explain either.
Preparations
The announcement was in the news the very next day: Chairman Black of Nero Hotels Announces the Upcoming Wedding of his Only Son to the Prestigio Heiress.
The wedding was on. And with the announcement, it was well as done.
But after Anyna's disappearance, no one included me in any of the preparations. My mother had decided to hold the wedding in a private island because she said
it's the height of style but I knew better. She chose the caterer, hired the most expensive organizers. The guest list. The cake. The designer for the wedding gown was her choice too along with the design. I didn't have an input. No asked for what I wanted for my own wedding.I was forbidden to go out and it's been a month. And at this time, final exams were on-going in the academy. It made me think of Jace's clause.
I had no phone, no money, and was monitored 24/7 in my own home. And it seemed I also would not have my education.
I stood by thw windows as I watched my father's BMW exit the gates.
I've already observed the schedule of the people inside the house. Five am and the gardeners will start. Five thirty, the kitchen staff will start preparing breakfast for Daddy who would take his meal at six am then leaving by seven. Mom doesn't go out for her social calls until ten am in the morning, but ever since the preparation for the wedding, she'd be leaving the mansion by eight.
"Miss."
My head snapped in the direction of the door. The knock had gone over my head as I blinked up at our maid.
"Yes?"
"Breakfast is ready, Miss."
I shook my head, "I'm not hungry." I didn't wait for a response before I turned back to the windows. The car was gone and the guards were closing the gates now.
"Miss Isla."
"I said I'm not—"
"Your mother asks for you to join her for breakfast."
This was new. My mom's never asked for my presence before. And to be honest, since Anyna disappeared, I think I lost all respect for her anyway so I couldn't care less that we didn't see each other at meals. And I was okay with not seeing all of them.
The maid waited by the door nevrvously, waiting for my response. I knew she'd take the blame if I didn't follow my mother's order. The house staff was never not informed of anything that happened under this roof. I was sure they knew how volatile this time was.
"I'll be there in five." I sighed in defeat.
The maid visibly exhaled before nodding and exiting my room. The door shut and I stood up to fix myself.
What could she want now?
As soon as I entered the dining room, I saw my mother busy on her iPhone. She was dressed semi-formally and was obviously on her way to somewhere. At my murmured greeting she looked up only to frown at me.
"Isla, why aren't you dressed? We're leaving in thirty minutes! Go back to your room, there's no more time for breakfast." Finishing that statement, her phone rang and she waved me away. I was already dismissed.
I saw the worried look the two waiting maids gave me. I hadn't eaten dinner either. I didn't have an appetite last night, same as now. There wasn't a choice but to turn around and follow what my mom said. When I went back down to meet her, she was still on her phone. She stood by the foyer and was rushing out of the house as I followed after her. It was only when we got into the backseat of her car that she looked at me again.
