Going Away Party Proposal

Cleo's POV

It's the night before the end of my old life and the start of my new one. I've felt funny all day but I think it's just nerves. I am going to die tomorrow after all. Anyway I'm all alone in the house as Jimmy is having a sleepover at a mates house and Aunt Lara is on a night shift. Thantos also had some business to deal with before I die.

So here I am home alone eating a tub of ice cream watching Eight Below. It has just reached the scene with the leopard seal when Annie and Ricky barge into my house. They drag me to my room abandoning my ice cream.

"What's going on?" I ask them confused as Ricky rads my closet and Annie makes me sit in front of my vanity.

"The three of us are having a girls night" Annie states as she opens my make up case.

"Remind us again why you have to leave the state to go to college?" Ricky asks from my closet.

"They have a good program" I say absentmindedly.

"Found it" Ricky declares exiting my closet with a my red roper, denim jacket, stockings and black heeled boots. Annie does my make-up while Ricky does my hair. "Done, now change" Ricky orders and they leave the room. I sigh and get changed before joining them at my front door.

"Is there any point in asking where we're going?" I ask them.

"No" Annie says smiling as Ricky pushes me out the door. We got into Annie's car and I'm blind folded. I pout as they giggle and I feel us moving. When I feel us stop I feel Thantos pick me up and frown in confusion. Didn't he have business tonight?

We went inside and he puts me down. He wraps his arms around me as my blind fold is removed. "Surprise!" everyone shouts.

"What is this?" I ask in confusion. Looking at all my friends, work colleges, Jimmy and Aunt Lara.

"You're going away to college party" Zoey states smiling.

"Thank you guys" I say smiling trying not to think about the next time they'd all be gathered. Everyone hugs me before the party begins. "How did you get everyone here?" I ask Aunt Lara.

"It was all Thantos" she tells me smiling.

"Yeah and we plan on partying tomorrow after you left" Ricky says smirking. I give her a playful glare. "Just joking, we'll miss you though" she assures me.

"There's cake!" Jim cheers hugging me.

"Yes there is" Zoey says as it is brought out. Written on the cake is: We will miss you and wish you the best. I smile as I make a cut making a wish that they all live happy love filled lives after I'm gone. The cake is cut and handed out as we all mingle. Half way through the night I managed to pull Thantos away from the crowd.

"I just wanted to thank you for this, it means a lot to me" I tell him smiling.

"You don't need to thank me, it is the least I could do" he tells me tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "But you know we haven't seen each other all day" he adds smiling.

"No we haven't, have we?" I say looking into his eyes as we lean in. We kiss each other happily as I hear literal fireworks go off. I pull away and look up a the fireworks smiling. When I turn back to Thantos, he is on one knee. "Thantos?" I say confused as a ring box appears in his hands.

"Cleo, I know we haven't been together long. But with you leaving tomorrow, it's made me realize how much I love you. So I want the world to know you're mine. So will you do me the honour, of marrying me?" he asks me. Tears of joy appear in my eyes, this is so sweet.

"Yes" I choke out and he puts the ring ring on my finger. In the middle is a Lapis Lazuli stone surrounded by diamonds. He holds me close and we sway to the music coming from inside the diner. "I love you Thantos, with all of my heart" I tell him.

"And I love you to Cleo, with all of my being" he tells me and I smile snuggling into him. "We have to return to your party" he says after a while. I agree and we return.

"Cleo, Aunt Lara says we have to leave as it's past my bed time" Jim says pouting.

"It is and I'm sure Ace wants to go to bed to" I tell him smiling.

"Oh there you are Cleo" Aunt Lara says appearing with Ace. "We were just..." she stops speaking looking at my left hand. "Is that what I think it is?!" she demands grabbing everyones attention.

"Yes it is" I say smiling.

"We're engaged" Thantos announces and everyone cheers congratulating us. Aunt Lara and Jim hugged me congratulating me before leaving. Thantos and I stayed another hour for the adult alcohol party. Before calling it a night as I have to leave early in the morning.

Now we lay in my bed staring at the ceiling. "You'll be with me right, when the time comes?" I ask him.

"All the way, I'll see you off with Jim and Lara. Then fake going to work and join you on the open road" he explains. I nod my head snuggling into his side and fall into a peaceful sleep.
