Song~ Walking on cars-Hand in hand

The following morning, we rose early dressing up in our leotards, stretchy tights, jumpers and leg warmers.

I slipped my feet into my shoes, relaxing at the familiar feel of the soft silk that fit perfectly around my feet.

"Are you ready?" I called out for my bedroom door.

"Eva!"

She suddenly swung the bathroom door open, leaning dramatically against the door frame.

"You summoned me?" she said wiggling her eyebrows.

I threw her gear bag at her hitting her directly in the face.

"C'mon let's go" I loosened the straps on my backpack and threw it over my shoulders.

"Mom were leaving see you later!" I yelled.

Without waiting for a reply we rushed out the door. We had ten minutes till our dance class, we practiced by ourselves but we had class three times a week.

We had the tendency to be late, to say the least.

"Crap she'll kill us" Eva said panting as we raced down the staircases, occasionally tripping on the slippery steps.

"Move it" I said while Eva stopped for a break.

"She is going to hate us" Eva moaned.

"So move!" I laughed.

We began running and jumped down steps crazily.

A few minutes later we had reached the end of the stairs, doubled over with stitches and spluttering with laughter.

An old women was crouched over her Zimmer frame watched us closely from the bottom of the opposite stairs.

"Hooligans" she muttered.

"Sorry Mrs. Dubnose" Eva said sweetly.

We rushed off down the street, our bags swinging behind us, our hair scraped back messily into buns.

We jogged the rest of the way until we finally reached the doors of the dance studio.

"Shh" I whispered pressing a finger to my lips.

I tiptoed silently across the hall, hopefully we could make it to the changing rooms without being noticed.

My foot creaked against on a floorboard, making the slightest sound.

"Miss Miller, Miss Martinez I see ye have come to grace us with you presence" Madame Lorrie drawled loudly. Everyone's heads turned in unison, frowning at us.

Eva grinned sheepishly.

"Sorry Madam" Eva replied nonchalantly.

"We were just practicing in mine you see and my grandmother was having trouble moving her Zimmer frame so she dropped us a bit late" she continued.

Oh god shut up I thought.

Madame Lorrie looked at her, unimpressed.

"I hope that your Grandmother is in good health and that her Zimmer frame is working marvellously" Madame Lorrie said crisply.

"However I'm sure we all saw the two of you from the window running across the street like a pair of homeless cats " she snapped.

The class sniggered quietly until Madame Lorrie silenced them.

Eva's mouth opened about to object but I digged her in the side, signalling her to shut up.

"Over to the corner and do your stretches. Do hurry please" she said smartly and continued with the class.
