First day of school
Muse- Supermassive Black Hole
We drove steadily in the car, bouncing occasionally on a speed bump.
Sam refused to slow down, he was excited I could tell.
We stopped at first outside Johnsons, he hopped into the back seat and nodded at Sam to continue driving.
We drove to an unfamiliar house, a tall dark haired boy emerged from the house and opened the back door.
"Nate sup bro?" Johnson greeted causally.
So his name was Nate.
We continued to drive, the music blaring.
Even the music couldn't mask my feelings.
The closer we came to St. Anthony's I got more and more nervous.
I was dreading it, my nerves were eating me from the inside out.
The thought of Jack helped me relax, after all he told me I had nothing to worry about.
Finally Sam drove into Jacks driveway.
I felt my heartbeat quicken as I watched him open the front door of his house.
He stumbled out, yawning, his hair an unruly mess.
He still looked amazing.
He grinned at me before joining the two other boys in the back seat.
I had worried what it would be like now that Jack and I were going out but he immediately engaged the boys in conversation.
They were all talking about basketball and their school team.
It was like I wasn't even there.
They all seemed almost exciting about going back to school, I never understood those type of people.
I felt unsettled.
We were nearly there.
Sam drove into the school parking lot, carelessly slotting his car into a wheelchair space towards the front of the car park.
An act of rebellion on his part, it reminded me of one of the cool kids that were trying too hard.
He whipped off his sunglasses and slotted them into his dash.
He nodded curtly at me, as if he was expecting me to leave, to get out of the car.
He turned around to face the boys.
"Are we ready guys?"
They all nodded.
Johnson studied his reflection in the car window, fixing his hair.
I watched them all jump out of the Jeep and saunter out of the car park in a line of four.
Heads turned as they walked past, whispers and murmurs came from groups of girls.
They were the interest of the crowds of people.
I saw a few people wave and try talk to them but they continued walking, swaggering their way to the front entrance of the school, oblivious to everyone around them.
They were clearly the talk of St. Anthony's, I hadn't expected this.
Sam swung the door open roughly and they disappeared into the monstrous school of St. Anthony's.
I sat gobsmacked in the car, unable to move.
They had left me, completely ignored me.
I couldn't help feeling hurt.
