Lunchtime
I walked lazily down the corridors, the bleak school walls spinning around me.
My thoughts were everywhere, I couldn't concentrate all day.
My mind was brimming with ideas for dance, ideas I couldn't put into words.
I showed Daniel what was on my mind during extra curricular.
Unfortunately that was the only class I enjoyed that day.
The classes that followed were long and tedious, I felt alone and entirely consumed by my own thoughts.
Thoughts I tried push away that kept creeping back.
The things Sam and Jack had said.
I told myself to forget about it,
It was nothing.
_
"That class nearly killed me" Daniel moaned.
I pulled out a plastic chair and threw my bag down beside me.
I was exhausted, my last class was the worst, I no longer had the energy to make small talk with unfamiliar strangers.
Seeing Katie and Daniel was the best.
"I'm going to cut everyone here and use their blood as ketchup" Katie announced.
She stabbed her chips with her food and shoved them into her mouth.
I stifled a laugh.
"I promise you Macy we are not this awful, we just turn into hateful monsters in school" Katie explained.
I nearly choked on my sandwich.
"Honestly we are happy, loving creatures- just not here" Daniel continued, gesturing around at the cafeteria, people were still swarming in and taking their usual places.
"You know what?" Katie said.
"Your coming with us on Sunday"
Daniel stops before taking another bite and nods vigorously.
"She's coming to town" he said, wriggling his eyebrows.
"Yeah sure"
"Yay!" Katie squealed excitedly.
We began planning our Sunday.
I was glad they asked me to go, the more I talked to them, the more I liked them.
I didn't understand why people like them were so unpopular.
Sam and Jacks comments lingered in the back of my mind.
I heard footsteps behind me, a sea of red.
Nate's squinted eyes met mine, I watched as he walked over to me.
No, no, no.
Nate just smirked at me.
"Nice friends you found yourself" he remarked.
He looked over at Katie and Daniel with a face of disgust.
I wanted to stand up and smack him across the face.
His friend chuckled until he spoke to Nate.
"She's fairly nice, where did you find her?" a big blonde haired boy ran his hand roughly against my face and I cringed away from his touch.
"Sam Wilkinson's baby sister I reckon" Nate laughed, as if it was the most ridiculous thing he'd ever heard.
I blushed furiously and I could hear Katie painfully grinding her teeth.
