"Ok I think we've nailed it "

Eva slumped onto the floor and prised off her dance shoes.
I slid down the wall and sat down beside her, she rested her head on my shoulder.

"Do you think we can do it?" She murmured.

I massaged my feet, they were red raw and throbbing with pain, it wasn't easy.

"Yes" I answered simply.

"We have a few months, but we'll do it" I said confidently.
My heart started beating faster thinking of the audition.

I wrap a bandage carefully around my foot and slip on my shoes, tying the laces.
We packed up our things and switching off the lights of the studio, leaving the large hall in a pool of darkness.

"We have dance class with Madam Lorrie tomorrow" Eva reminded me.

I nodded.

"Don't be late" she said with a sly grin.

Her moms car pulled up in front of the studio and she ran down the steps and I watched her hop in beside her mom and they waved before they left the empty parking lot.

The wind suddenly kicked in, a loud uproar of cold air, I wrapped my coat tightly around my body.
I realised walking home wasn't an option. Brian would kill me anyway.

I pulled my phone from my pocket, unlocking the screen, about to dial a number.

Suddenly a car jolted to an abrupt stop and turned quickly into the parking lot. The engine rumbled to a halt in front of me and Sam grinned widely at me from the front seat.

"C'mon hurry before it rains!"

I didn't expect him to even know I had dance. I couldn't help smiling as I ran down to the car.

I was immediately hit with the warm heating inside the car and Sam began driving. I brushed off my flimsy jacket and shoved it into my bag.

"Are you hungry?"

I nodded and he smiled turning down the side street towards the city.
I already knew exactly where he would take me.

Sam flicked on the radio, selecting a random station.

I opened the window, allowing the wind to blow in on us and stuck my head outside, looking up at the bright lights of the buildings.

I felt like I was happy, right there in the early night driving through the streets of Omaha beside Sam.

It was crazy to think not too long ago I was living in a tiny tenement apartment with my depressed mom, walking the littering streets.

Now I was living in a beautiful home, with what seemed like, a new dad and a new brother.
It gave me a fluttering feeling in my chest, I couldn't explain, describe.

We pulled up outside a small pizzeria hidden away in a side street, it was old and quaint, small and cosy.
It was one of Sams favourite places I could tell.

We stepped outside and Sam handed me his hoodie and I gratefully took it and threw it over my head.

We hurried into the pizzeria and Sam guided me towards the back of the restaurant into a small booth.

It was entirely empty only the sound of gentle music playing.
A waiter came down soon after and Sam placed our order, he knew exactly what to get.

"This your girlfriend Sammy?" The waiter said winking.

Sam just laughed and threw a protective arm around my shoulder.
