Song~ Tides- Jack and Jack.

We arrived at a remote Italian restaurant, it sat beside a river, the tables and chair scattered across a balcony. They were playing music and people were dancing.

The car drive had consisted of my mom and Brian chatting consistently while me and Sam ignored each other.

"C'mon out ye get"

I clambered across the seats but Sam shut the door in my face before I could get out.

I laughed while Brian gasped and pointed at him to open the door. Sam returned and scowled while he opened the door for me.

Ten minutes later we were sitting down at a plush table in a corner of the balcony. The sun hadn't quite set yet, and the evening breeze was warm against my skin.

I could tell Brian had booked the table, he had planned everything.

We ordered food and it came not too long after. The atmosphere was relaxing, the music soothing.

I was everything but relaxed. I could feel the bitter tension between me and Sam. We were squishing next to each other, he'd flinch away whenever our elbows would touch.

"I love this song!" my mom gasped as the band erupted into a jazzy song. Brian held onto her hand.

"Should we dance?" he said winking at her.

She giggled and he pulled her from her seat, twirling her around.

I moaned "Oh god "

"Help us" Sam added putting his head in his hands.

They began waltzing around the place, wriggling their hips. The only two at the entire restaurant.

"I literally cannot watch this" Sam said a look of pure horror on his face.

"This is actually painful" I agreed.

"Oh god Macy! Look away" Sam cringed and he covered my eyes.

It was too late, we watched in utter horror as Brian dipped my mom dramatically.

"Ohmyfuckingwhat the" me and Sam both moaned.

We began spluttering with laughter as people started to applause them.

I cannot even began to tell you how embarrassing parents that dance are.

"We are never to speak of this ever" I laughed.

Sams burst of laughter, and kindness seemed to end.

He realised that he actually spoken to me, agreed about something.

He immediately stopped laughing and edged away from me and we lapsed into silence.

I shouldn't care but it annoyed me that he changed from one to the other. Laughing properly with me loosening up, then suddenly the barrier was up again and he couldn't even look at me.

I didn't want to let it bother me, but it did.

Our parents returned flushed and red faced.

"Well" my mom said flicking a piece of hair out of her face.

"How were we?"

-

My phone was buzzing beside me and I groaned leaning across the massive bed, unable to find it.

I could tell it was late in the morning.

I had forgotten I wasn't in my bedroom anymore.

This was the Wilkinson house.
