TW: Towards the end of the chapter there is reference to drug use, so if you're sensitive to that, here's just a little warning. It's not hardcore, but.
(Just a small recap/ extension)
"I know you're out there Deputy. And I'll find you." That's the last the she heard he fore she blocked everything out, focusing on only that face, her heart surging through her ears. That was..
That was her goddamn baby blue...
She felt extremely lightheaded, and out of focus as all of this new information washed over her. She barely head what Dutch was telling her, all she got out of it is that they were in a bunker, on an island, and that's where she was going to start. He handed her the key, and told her about some stuff in a safe. She grabbed all she could, and headed out, still extremely out of focus. All she did was walk. When she came up on a few peggies messing with a hostage, she took them out, releasing the girl without a second thought, nodding as a response for helping the girl. She continued until she found a ladder up into a snipers nest. She climbed up, taking in a scope of the area she could see, and taking supplies from a bag left up there. Afterwards she sat down, slumped against the tree, the assault rife he acquired resting in her lap. And she just sat there, blindly staring in the distance, an empty feeling resigning in her chest, and in the pits of her stomach. The void soon beginning to bloom with an awful concoction of anxiety, fear, hurt, and strangely some kind of hope.. it made her sick.

(We interrupt your regular scheduled programming with a section for John)
There are plenty of hard things people do in life, there were plenty of hard things John did in life. But leaving Ryann had to be one of the hardest. Just up and leaving with no explanation, no note, no call, no text, nothing but what he could leave with May. It was "family business.." and technically it was, just not the usual kind.. John felt horrible for leaving, and after his brother had preached of the collapse coming, he felt worse.. but there was no way he would up and leave, not even for her. With John it was deeply rooted that family came first. Before anything else, there was family, and being the youngest in the family, he was expected to uphold that. There was only so much that Joseph would let slide, and this definitely wouldn't be one of them. Other than the fact that he felt he needed to uphold this, John was also terrified of his older brother. Not only plain terrified, but also terrified to disappoint him.. And despite how much he wanted to, he wouldn't risk acting on his impulses.
His brother brought him in, exposed him to the cult he was running, making him part of it. And as part of it, he had to give up much of his old life. It was against Joseph's rules to drink like the way he used to, that was pinned as Gluttony. Johns emptiness, and lack of motivation, lack of emotion, and just the general laziness that he had been resting on for the past years, that was Sloth. Those were his major sins.. the ones he admitted anyway. And with Joseph's crazy ass philosophy, John wore them.
It pained him to know that he most likely would never see Ryann again. It was a thought that he often tried to push out, drowning it away whenever he could. Then again, that spring night changed everything for everyone. John included.
As the three officers walked into the church John sighed to himself, this was going to be so much more added paperwork than he was already working on. And this time, it looked really serious. Inwardly he though selfishly, not of what shit his older brother had gotten himself into this time, but what kind of paper work he'd gotten John into. It wasn't until the Marshal produced the warrant, and things started to get hostile that John started to worry.
His eyes scanned the group of three for the first time since they had gotten in, slowly walking behind Joseph subconsciously to get a better view. It was pretty much the usual, the sherif, this time with a US Marshal, but there was someone new to.. a female figure, padded in police gear, he could tell it was a female for, well a few reasons. She was much smaller than the two men she stood timidly with, shifting in place quite a bit, eyes darting around the room. Her eyes were the only thing visible of her face, and one of the things that caught his attention. Her eyes were a beautiful, familiar shade of blue, everything inside them screaming fear and anxiety. He studied her, and noticed her attention kept flicking to his area, and then around, but always coming back to him. He was amused by this of corse, but there was no time for that now.
