It was the afternoon of the next day from finding Maggy, and everyone was putting their stuff in the car.
" Ok, so we have food, water, a lighter, clothes, and walkie-talkies. For Maggy, we have her serum stuff. And we have extra weapons and ammo. I think that's it. Do we need anything else?" said Askova. Derek shook his head.
" Man, having chips for dinner was a dream. My mom never let me have those," Destiny said. Michaela walked over to Derek. Askova gave Maggy and Dave each a walkie talkie
" Are you going to tell her or what?" asked Michaela. Derek looked down.
" I don't think I'm ready yet. I'm still trying to embrace it," Derek replied. Michaela rolled her eyes and got in the back of the car. Willow and Lindsay got in the back with her. Dave got in the driver's seat and started the car. Askova closed the trunk to Dave's car, then got in the back seat of the other car that was on the highway. Ray also got in the back seat. Derek got in the passenger's seat. Maggy closed the truck to her car.
" No funny business," Destiny sternly said. Maggy looked belligerent, and sighed, then got in the driver's seat. Destiny got in the back seat with Ray and Askova. Dave drove off and Maggy followed him.
Ten minutes have passed and they were still on the highway. It was quiet in both cars. Derek was trying trying to turn to a signal on the radio. Then, he landed on a song. It was called " Get Out Alive" by Three Days Grace. Derek was singing along and Askova joined.
" So if you want to get out alive...oh run for your life. So if you want to get out alive...oh run for your life," Askova and Derek sang in unison. Lindsay started dancing and Maggy yelled at them. Ray was sleeping.
" Turn that stupid music down!" Maggy yelled looking stern. Derek turned the music down one notch.
" I said turn the music down!" Maggy repeated. Ray shot up awake.
" Shut up I'm trying to sleep!" she yelled. Maggy apologized.
" I did, but you didn't say how much," Derek replied. He chuckled. Maggy screamed.
" Just turn the music down so I can sleep!" Ray repeated. Derek turned the music down. Askova smiled then looked at Derek. Derek smiled then looked away, cheeks turning red. Destiny nodded her head to the music. Maggy turned the music up a little bit, then hummed to the music.
" Maggy, when a rock song plays, you're not supposed to hum it, you're supposed to dance or sing it," replied Destiny. Maggy continued humming.
" I never listened to rock before," Maggy continued with her eyes on the road. Askova started singing the song softly. Derek stared outside the window, looking at the car ahead of them. Ray was asleep.
To Dave and the others
Dave was driving the car with Maggy right behind them. They couldn't get the radio to work.
" Dang it, there's no signal," Dave said, as he vigorously turned the knob for a signal. Michaela looked at him and asked a question.
" How come there's no signal when it's always isolated and quiet, even though we're in a city?" Dave was still trying to find a signal.
" I have no idea. It's always like that in horror movies," Dave replied. Dave found a signal and came across "Get Out Alive".
" Question. Why are we going to St. Louis? Wouldn't it be infested with cannibals?" Willow asked. Dave sighed.
" Well, Maggy and I were talking about moving somewhere else except on the side of the highway, especially since that cannibal filled lake was there," Dave started, " but we didn't know where. Then, Askova butted in and said that we were on the side road of St. Louis and that we could go there. So Maggy and I agreed." Dave finished. Willow thought.
" Do you trust Maggy?" Willow asked.
" Not exactly. There's something not right about her," Dave replied, his eyes on the road.
" Well, we did tie her up with a chain and tie her to a tree. But she did run away when we protected her and let her do her experiments," Willow whispered. Dave continued driving then automatically stopped with no warning. He couldn't believe his eyes.
" Maggy, I think you should see this," Dave said through his walkie-talkie.
