Ms. Rivera was still driving towards Middletown. Willow was still hugging the unicorn shirt. Ray was working on the radio. Everyone was doing something. It was pretty boring.
" How much longer till' we get there?" asked Derek, complaining.
" Man, you're impatient," blurted Destiny.
" We'll get there in about... 1 more day," replied Michaela.
" Noooo! I'm tired of being on this bus!" whined Derek. Destiny, Willow, Ray, and Michaela laughed.
" We're actually almost there," chuckled Willow. All of a sudden, they heard static.
" Sweet glory!" exclaimed Ray, putting her hands in the air. Michaela ran towards the radio.
" Hello? Anyone there? Over," said Michaela. Nothing. Just static, " Hello, this is group 5, to Base Five. Over." still, nothing. Michaela dropped the radio.
" They always answer. Think it's the connection?" asked Destiny, worried. Michaela shook her head.
" We're going the right direction. This is the road to Middletown, remember? Besides, we're almost there, so the connection can't be bad," replied Michaela.
" How did you guys end up at Base Five?" asked Emma.
" We were taken in. Someone found us, and they took us in. We were taken in separately though, so we didn't know each other at the time. We became one of the best cannibal fighters, so we were set out to find more survivors, together," replied Willow. Michaela nodded,
" the government set up bases around the United States, to give people a chance to survive." Askova nodded.
" How old are you guys?" asked Lindsay.
" Is this Q & A now?" scoffed Destiny. Michaela shushed her.
" Willow and I are in 7th grade. Ray is in 6th grade, and Destiny is in 5th grade," replied Michaela. Destiny slouched in her seat, "She doesn't like being the youngest in Base Five." Michaela, Willow, and Ray laughed. Destiny stuck her tongue out. After 8 minutes, they arrived in Middletown. They entered by driving on the bridge. There were dead bodies and cannibals swimming under the bridge. The place was infested with them.
" Man, the infection hit this place hard," commented Derek.
" Are you always the first to speak?" scoffed Destiny. Derek shut his mouth. Ms. Rivera drove onto North Cherry Street. The street had people running all over the place and cannibals roaming the street.
" I used to live here," said Jace, " But we moved to the country because my dad thought that the city and the town was a dangerous place."
" Well, he was right, this place is dangerous," replied Lindsay, looking out the window.
" We're headed towards the church," said Destiny, pointing towards the south. Ms. Rivera was driving, when all of a sudden, someone ran in front of the bus.
" Whoa! Ahhhh!" Ms. Rivera drove around them and ran into the flagpole that was in the middle of the street. She broke the flagpole, with it falling and landing onto the nearest building, eventually creating a big fire. Everyone was screaming and flying around, as the buses back left tire popped, toppled over and slid into the building opposite from the one that the flagpole fell down on. Askova, got up weakly, coughing blood and breathing hard before she passed out.
