Dying Breath: It All Starts Here

Another Way

Maggy immediately stopped when she saw that Dave stopped driving. She put her walkie-talkie down.

" What the..." Maggy whispered, confused. She got out of the car, closed the door and walked towards the edge. Askova and Destiny looked at each other then got out of the car. Derek got out to see what's going on, having forgotten that Ray was still sleeping. His door was still open. Askova swung her door to close it but didn't close.

" Oh. My. God," commented Destiny. Michaela, Willow, and Lindsay got out of there car. Dave stayed in his driver seat with his door open. They all stared at the bottomless pit. It was like an ocean of cannibal and the blown up road was the cliff. They could hear the snarling of the cannibal as they stood at the edge of the cliff.

" Oh my god, it reeks! It's so disgusting!" Maggy complained. She then stepped back and covered her mouth and nose. Askova groaned.

" Ugh. There's so many down there. What happened?" Everyone started covering their mouth and nose.

" I think I remember. The government and the army came to cities to help the Solanum Virus 1. This highway must have been one of those spots," Derek replied. He got closer to the edge.

" Derek, be careful. It's slippery," Askova replied. Derek didn't move, he just stayed where he was. Then all of a sudden, Askova noticed something.

" Hey, guys. Does this look weird? Look, down there," Everyone walked over to the edge. They were all looking at something.

" It's a helicopter," commented Lindsay.

" How did it get down there?" asked Willow. Askova shook her head.

" I don't know. Maybe it crashed," replied Askova.

" How did a helicopter crash down there? How could it have been shot down?" Derek asked.

" I don't think it was shot," Dave blurted. Everyone looked at him.

" What do you mean? How else could it have gone down?" Michaela asked. Dave looked down, then looked up again.

" I think, maybe, this road wasn't full of cannibals when this helicopter was in the air. Maybe, all those cannibals down there were people before they turned, probably trying to get out of the city. The helicopter must have gone down if..." Dave started. Destiny finished.

" If there was a cannibal in the helicopter. Cause if there were then it would have eaten the pilot and the helicopter would have gone down, creating a big hole in the bridge and..." Destiny inferred.

" And it would have crashed into everyone, killing them, then turning back into cannibals," Askova finished. She gasped. She turned to everyone, " maybe they caught the virus on accident." Askova was cut off with a scream. They all immediately turned their head towards the scream, which was back where Ray was sleeping.

" Ahhhhh! Get it off!" Ray screamed. She was keeping the cannibal back by kicking it back. There was another cannibal trying to get her through Derek's door. There was no weapon in the car to save her. Destiny then thrust herself towards the cannibal in Askovas door and pinning it to the ground. Askova ran towards the cannibal in Derek's door and sliced it's head off with her katana. The cannibal fell to the ground.

Destiny was still on the ground, pinning the cannibal. She didn't have a weapon with her. Askova was running towards her to kill it, but it was too late.

" Ahhh!" the cannibal bit Destiny in the arm. Askova ran towards her and stabbed the cannibal in the head. Destiny was laying on the ground, screaming for her life, holding where the cannibal bit her. Blood was gushing out through her fingers. Willow, Michaela, and Ray were crying.

" No, no, no, you can't die, not right now," Ray got out the car crying. Ray and her friends were mourning. Askova had a tear going down her eye. Dave walked over looking sad. Maggy didn't do anything. Derek looked down.

" You need to kill me. I'm done for," Destiny urged herself to say through the pain. Maggy rushed to the back of her car to get her serum.

" I can save you for a little longer. You can stay living for another week, I just need..." Maggy started. Destiny cut her off.

" No, you guys need to get to St. Louis. I'm dying. Throw me over the cliff and escape. The cannibals will be too distracted trying to get me instead of getting you," Destiny grunted. Maggy closed the trunk, " This is my dying breath. I'm done for."

" Is this what you want?" Maggy asked. Destiny nodded. Askova walked over and grabbed Destiny's arms. Maggy grabbed Destiny's legs.

" No, let me," Ray said. She took Maggy's place. Askova looked at Destiny.

" Want to have some fun before you die?" Askova asked. Destiny nodded. Askova nodded at Ray. Ray nodded back. They swung three times before throwing Destiny on the ground like a bowling ball. Destiny slid on the ice.

" Wee!" Destiny said before she fell into the big death pit. They could hear Destiny splatter on the ground, and cannibals munching on her body.

"Dying Breath," Askova whispered, repeating what Destiny said. They all got in their cars. Dave turned around and drove off the bridge then drove into the grass. He waited for the cannibals to move out of the way so he could drive. When they did, Michaela and Willow looked out the window to see Destiny be eaten by cannibals. When Maggy drove by, Derek, Askova, and Ray looked out the window too. Ray was still mourning. When Dave and Maggy drove by, they got back on the highway.

The song " War of Change," started playing on the radio by Thousand Foot Krutch.

" Well, I guess it all starts here," Maggy commented. Derek looked at Askova, then looked out the window as Maggy drove into St. Louis.
