"I have to go back to work today, but you be a good girl, okay, [Name]?"

The way Sasuke spoke to her made the girl writhe with anger, and when he leaned in to kiss her forehead, she attempted to bite his face. The raven scowled, and straightened up.

[Name] sat atop his bed, still chained to the headboard. Thankfully, she had been able to have a shower last night, albeit a short one. It was now blatantly obvious that Sasuke Uchiha was a sadistic psychopath from the very depths of hell itself.

"I'm not done with you," he said to her in a dark, menacing tone. Flicking her on the forehead, Sasuke up and went, shutting the bedroom door behind him. As the sound of his footsteps receded down the hallway, [Name] groaned in agony and hung her head. His name was Naruto Uzumaki. Right.

"Lord help me," she murmured to herself, thinking of how she could break free from the Uchiha's iron clad fist.

"Morning, Sasuke!"

"Hey there, boss! How are you?"

"Sasuke-kun, good morning!"

Sasuke ignored each and every one of his employees who greeted him as he walked through their workplace to get to his own office, which sat on the floor above their heads. Just as the elevator came into sight, someone wheeled their chair backwards so that they were in Sasuke's way, making the young raven haired executive raise his eyebrows in admonishment.

"Sasuke, don't you think we oughta go out for a drink tonight?" A recommendation by his second in command, Suigetsu.

Sasuke regarded his inferior with a stoic look.

"And why do you think that?" he asked coolly, narrowing his eyes at the white haired man. Suigetsu gulped, and looked up at his boss with fear evident in his eyes.

"Well, you know... to lift some spirits around here," he said in a low voice. "Since the second anniversary for that thing is coming up... would it hurt to boost some morale around here? Everyone misses them. [Name] and Naruto, that is," he added cautiously.

Sasuke scowled, and looked away from Suigetsu.

"What everyone else in the office thinks of their anniversary is none of my concern. It's up to themselves to lift themselves out of the dumps and get back to work. It's been two years; they should learn to grow up," spat the Uchiha venomously, pushing past Suigetsu and making his way to the elevator.

"Sasuke-"

Before the white haired man could continue, his boss was already in the elevator, face retreating behind the slowly closing doors. Suigetsu sighed in defeat and rolled back to his desk, where he sat opposite a man named Shikamaru Nara.

"He's still not over it," said Suigetsu, shaking his head as he opened up his laptop and went back to work. Shikamaru grimaced, and let his white haired comrade continue.

"[Name] and Naruto were his best friends," continued Suigetsu. "Losing two of them at the same time, I can understand why he's so uptight."

Nearby, a secretary by the name of Ino Yamanaka happened to walk by and catch wind of the pairs' conversation. Stopping before their desk with a stack of papers clutched to her chest, she leaned forward to join in.

"You know what's weird though, is that Sasuke was absolutely head over heels in love with [Name]," she whispered in a low voice, glancing around just in case any other nosing staff were to hear and spread rumours around the office. "But, if you mention her name around him now, he'll completely shut you down and lose interest in the conversation in milliseconds."

Suigetsu nodded, while Shikamaru thoughtfully chewed the end of his pen.

"Well, seeing as she was with Naruto, I guess it left him a little bitter. I mean, come on- the love of your life dating your best friend? That's enough to screw anyone over," input Suigetsu, earning him a vigorous head nod from the blonde beauty.

"Poor Sasuke-kun," sighed Ino, leaning forward on her elbow and cupping her chin in the palm of her hand. "H's still isolating himself, isn't he?"

Suigetsu nodded.

"As far as I've heard, he's completely shut everyone out," he said sadly. "As soon as it happened, he immediately barred everyone from his house and disappeared for like two months. I guess it took him that long to get over the shock and back to work, right?"

"He took this weekend off," announced the Nara loudly, drawing the attention of not only Ino and Suigetsu, but a couple of others in the vicinity. One, a man named Sai. Another, a pink haired woman by the name of Sakura Haruno. And the last one, a brown haired man by the name of Kiba Inuzuka. Soon, Shikamaru and Suigetsu's desks were crowded by said people, all willing to donate their ten cents' worth of gossip about their tragic boss. But while his workmates blabbered on about their boss's private life, Shikamaru was deep in thought.

Sasuke has never taken off a day from work since those two months, he thought grimly, hands interlocked. I wonder what happened.

"Remember Menma? I heard that after the incident, he quit here after attacking Sasuke-kun!"

Shikamaru frowned as the Uzumaki twin's name was mentioned.

"Why did he attack Sasuke-kun?!"

"No idea, he was going on about blaming Sasuke for everything."

Shikamaru closed his eyes in  concentration, trying to decode their words.

"Why?!"

"It's Menma we're talking about, Ino. Like, hello?"

"Good point."

While his workmates left it at that and began to disperse, Shikamaru Nara was deep in thought.

Menma's never did anything without a reason. There must've been something bugging him.

Maybe his mind was playing up, or maybe he was just romanticising the whole situation, but Shikamaru had a feeling that something was off.

Why would Menma blatantly blame his brothers best friend for something so vicious? Wouldn't Sasuke be the last person on his list?

The Nara made a mental note to drop by the Uzumaki's residence later on in the week.

Nice one, Shika. It's been two years and you decide to bring this up now.
