The house was eerily silent as [Name] sat on her bed, staring at the moon as it illuminated her bedroom floor through her ajar window. Then she heard it. It was faint, but it was there. A noise out of the ordinary. [Name] grumbled to herself, getting to her feet. Her beloved Sasuke was home. Oh joy.

Leaving her room and walking down the hallway, [Name] angrily called out to the Uchiha.

"Sasuke? Could you do both of us a favour and maybe get the lights fixed?" she called with a scowl, making her way down to the foyer. When she got there, however, it was empty. Well, it seemed empty to her, anyway. In this darkness, she could barely see her own hand right in front of her eyes. [Name] frowned as she examined the area, then gave up with a sigh. She grumbled even more to herself, wondering if the Uchiha had already gone up to his room.

"Sasuke!" she called again, this time heading for the Uchiha's side of the mansion. "Sasuke? Fix the goddamn lights, will you?!"

Muttering evilly under her breath, [Name] began her long and seemingly arduous walk to her captor's bedroom.

"Yo, Shika. Looky here."

Menma was on his belly, peering underneath the frame of Sasuke's bed. The Nara raised an eyebrow at his companion before deciding that it was worth checking out.

"I swear, Namikaze, if there's a dead body under there I will not hesitate to beat the crap out of you," said Shikamaru, getting down beside Menma. He flashed his phone underneath, and let out a low 'oh,' when he saw what Menma was talking about. The pair exchanged nervous glances.

"A trapdoor?" asked Shikamaru, slightly uneasy. Menma nodded.

"Let's check it out, quick," said the Namikaze, beginning to crawl his way under. Shikamaru scowled and grabbed him by the shoulder.

"What if Sasuke turns up, huh? Then what?" snapped the Nara, now considerably afraid of being caught by his boss. Menma rolled his eyes and got to his feet, walking off. A few seconds later, he was back besides Shikamaru, clutching the blade that had been on the desk.

"Idiot! Then he'll know for sure someone was in here!" hissed Shikamaru as Menma put the blade between his teeth and began to bear crawl towards the handle protruding from the floor. Shikamaru facepalmed.

"Look, it slides open!" remarked the Namikaze, slowly beginning to pull the metallic handle to the left. He peered downwards; it was a pretty steep drop, with a ladder built into the side. Shikamaru grew queasy at the sound of the heavy portal door being opened; secret passageways were never a good thing. With ease, Menma backed away from the hole so that he could turn and put his legs in first, no qualms about it whatsoever.

Shikamaru scowled.

"Oh look, a secret trapdoor! Let's go through it and see what happens!" said the Nara sarcastically, grumbling as he followed Menma in.

The Namikaze took the blade from his mouth and tucked it handle first into the pocket of his jacket, grinning broadly as he descended into a pit that followed.

"Just as reckless as Naruto," added Shikamaru under his breath. Menma heard, and laughed even more.

"Well, we are twins," he said heartily as Shikamaru slid the trapdoor shut above them. The descent was silent, until Menma finally landed with a soft thud on what seemed to be a hard, concrete floor. Shikamaru reached him seconds later, and both the men illuminated their lights in opposite directions. Menma was met with a wall; Shikamaru, a long, narrow passageway.

"My way it is," said Shikamaru, beginning to lead. The corridor space was limited; the two had to walk in single file in order to fit. Even then, it was a tight squeeze. The ceiling above them was a high rise; Shikamaru guessed it went as high as the ladder they'd just come down.

"Pretty cold, huh?" chuckled Menma, careful to keep his hands away from the walls that enclosed them.

"Very- oh."

Shikamaru stopped in his tracks, causing the Namikaze to walk into him.

"Hey-! What is it?" asked Menma seriously, tip-toeing so that he could see over Shikamaru's shoulder. The two flashed their lights together, scanning the space before them. It was like a wine cellar, except for the fact that it was empty and had absolutely nothing in it. It was about the same size as Sasuke's room, and there was a door right across the room from them.

"Seriously?" snorted Menma, pushing Shikamaru forward. "Why is this guy-"

"Wait." Shikamaru shone his light onto the ground, wary of anything else the Uchiha may have had in store for them. Nothing out of the ordinary; a few rat skeletons here and there, but other than that, it looked like this place hadn't been tread in for years. Letting out a little breath he hadn't realised he'd been holding in, Shikamaru gingerly took a step forward, careful not to activate any traps or something that Sasuke may have set up.

Nothing.

Menma laughed at his comrade's hesitation, pushing him forward.

"Don't be such a pussy," he snorted, stepping forward besides Shikamaru.

The Nara grimaced as they approached the door, scowling slightly.

"Don't be such a dick," he retorted, rolling his eyes as he reached out to open the ancient looking door.
