Chapter Fourteen

Keely's POV

I shut the truck door and walked inside before Avery could finish his sentence. I feel like such an idiot. I'm so upset.

I walk in the house to find my mom watching t.v on the couch.

"Hey mom."

"Hey honey, sorry your father and I got home late. What did you end up doing?"

"Oh I actually went on a date."

"WHAT?! Why didn't you tell me? I would've rushed home to meet him! Wait, who did you go out with?"

"Oh it was nothing, it's just this boy, his name is Avery. He's one of my friends."

"Obviously it's something by the blush in your cheeks. Tell me all about him."

I say by my mom and told her about how I first met Avery and what kind of person he was. Then I told her about our date. She noticed I was holding back a little bit but I didn't want to tell her about the kiss just yet.

"Do you think you'll go out with him again hun?"

"I really like him but I mean we'll see I guess. I just feel like I don't know him well enough."

"I guess that means you gotta keep seeing him. You won't get to know him if you don't give him a chance."

I smiled at my mom and went to my room. After showering and getting settled, I heard my phone chime. I picked it up and saw a text from  Jake. Oh no, Avery told him what happened.

Jake: 'Hey Keely, Avery said he screwed up bad. What happened?'

Keely: 'He kissed me out of nowhere so I pushed him away and told him to take me home.'

Jake: 'I thought you liked him. Why didn't you want to kiss him?'

Keely: 'You're going to laugh at me. It was my first kiss.'

Jake: 'Awww Keely, is that why you got upset?'

Keely: 'I don't know why I got upset, I just did. I guess I just felt embarrassed because I've never done that before and it came out of nowhere. I just wasn't ready for it'

Jake: 'Well don't worry about it. Avery is so head over wolf paws for you that everything you do is literally perfect to him'

Keely: 'Wolf paws? 😂 that's a new one'

Jake: 'Yeahhh, I like wolves 😂'

Keely: 'I messed up my chance, didn't I?'

Jake: 'Not at all, how about we hang out tomorrow. We can go grab a bite to eat.'

Keely: 'okay Jake, I'll see you tomorrow, goodnight'

Jake: 'Goodnight Keely'

Jakes POV

I picked Keely up from her house and we decided to go to a small Chinese restaurant because we both needed something different from burgers and pizza.

We were just making the normal small talk. I could tell the whole Avery thing was still weighing on her mind. I feel bad but at the same time she just needs to let go of everything and stop worrying. Once she does that then everything will be perfect for her and Avery. She'll be the Luna alongside the most powerful Alpha in the U.S.

"Keely, I think you just need go all in with Avery. You have to stop being scared of every single little thing. Give him a break."

Keely looked down at her food and groaned.
