Keely's POV
I honestly had no idea why I was doing. What made me think that cuddling with a boy is okay? He's not even a boy. He's a werewolf. Where has my sanity gone? I could hear Avery's light snores so I tried my best to move out of his grasp. I needed some time to think, now that I've gotten a good sleep I can think more clearly. What are my parents going to say? They are probably so upset. Why would they even agree to let me sleepover at a boys house?! Did they even ask why I didn't call them? I need to get home.
I gathered my stuff and wrote a note for Avery. It's read, Going home. I'll text you later. I know it's not romantic or even sweet but I gotta make sure my parents don't chop my head off.I walked out of the room the see Jake and Nathan. "Hey guys, could one of you take me home please?"
They looked up at me with weary faces. "Does Avery know you're leaving?" Nathan asked with a concerned look.
"No, but I wrote him a note and I'll text him later."
"Okay, I'll take you home." Jake stood up off the couch and grabbed his keys. I said bye to Nathan and walked out the door to his car.
The car ride was silent. Neither of us talked. It wasn't awkward to the point where I wanted to jump out of the car, but there was some tension.
We finally reached my house but before I got out I turned to Jake, "We are okay... I'll keep your secret. You're still my best friend." He smiled and the tension disappeared. With that I closed the door and walked into my house. It's time to face the music.
"Mom, Dad, I'm home" I called out.
My parents yelled from the kitchen, "In here!"
I walked in to see them eating breakfast.
"I'm really sorry for not calling you guys myself." I stood there awaiting their response. I'm gonna get grounded for months.
"It's okay. You've never done anything to lose our trust. Sure, this situation could've been handled better, but that's just how mates work," my mom said sipping her coffee.
My jaw dropped. "You know?"
My mom chuckled and my dad shook his head.
"Of course we know. This town of full of werewolves. Our side job, so to say, is managing the lands and making sure the legal stuff gets taken care of for packs. My best friend growing up was a werewolf. That's how I got into all of this." My dad said in a calm tone.
They're acting like this is all normal. How?
"They're werewolves! This isn't normal! How are you guys so calm?"
"We've been working with packs for years. Lucky thing we recognized Nathan's last name. We met up with his parents to discuss plans with the ranking families."
I'm losing my mind. I can't believe this. I have to be dreaming. This isn't real.
"There are still rules young lady, don't think that just because we know about werewolves and mates doesn't mean you can go off whenever you want. We want to meet him first. Who is he?" My dad questioned.
"Umm, Avery Scott... he's my, well I mean I guess you call it mate but I'm yeah. I'm not really sure what that word means but I heard them use it. Is it just werewolf slang for girlfriend? I mean I'm not his but we did go out on a date."
I looked up at my parents. Their faces held complete and utter shock.
"The Alpha?!"
"Umm I guess. I don't know. I thought you guys were the experts here." I suddenly felt uncomfortable.
