The Prey

Chapter 10

                                             Skye's POV

   I woke up still feeling hot. I climbed outta Skyler's bed and ran across the hall to my bathroom. I turned on the cold water to cool the burning inferno in my body. After thirty minutes in the cold shower I got out and got dressed in some shorts and a sports bra. I cannot even describe how hot my body felt. I went downstairs to make some breakfast. I started making banana pancakes, bacon, sausage and biscuits. I was getting my biscuit dough ready when I heard a growl from behind me. I jumped and turned around with sticky dough on my hands to see Jaxon only instead of grey eyes his eyes where pitch black.

  "What is wrong with you" I yelled "You almost gave me a heart attack and why are your eyes black?" I ask. He reached up and pinched the bridge of his nose while closing his eyes.

  "Go get some clothes on" he growled as he ran outside.  

  Well that was weird I thought as I continued making biscuit's. Skyler came down right as I put them in the oven. She was bundled like she was at the north pole.

  "Are you ok" I asked

  "I'm freezing" she replied shivering. I walked around the table and wrapped her up in a hug. "You are so warm are you getting sick?" she asked

  "No but I am worried about you" I replied.

  "No need to worry girls" Grace said as she walked into the kitchen leading an elderly lady. "Let me introduce you to the oracle" She said.

  "Ummmm......hello" we replied. "Would you like some breakfast" I asked returning to the oven to finish cooking.

  "No Thank you" She replied never taking her eyes off of us. She continued to study us as we ate. I was beginning to get annoyed. After we finished eating Grace had us all go into the living room. Up until now most of the other kids avoided us now we where all in the same room.

   "There is a legend from long ago that two very powerful twin witches went into the mountains in Japan" the oracle began. Everyone was listening. "They went to train with the dragons. One trained to learn Fire and Earth the other Water and Air. They grew to be very strong. They where very kind and loving to all creatures. They fell in love with two Alphas and ended up having children with them. One day a dark sorcerous tried to take their powers so she could rule the world. The twins fought her and killed her. It was a joyous day. Balance was once again restored to our world. When the twins got to old to live they used the last of their magic to only let their full powers return to their descendants when the need to once again fight against darkness arises. That time is now" she said looking at Skyler and I. 

   "Sixteen years ago I told a set of twins that one of their daughter's would bare the burden of these powers. They heeded my warning and kept the girls safe. Now they have returned and Meredith will know and she will come to kill them. She will succeed as of now because the girls have to have their mates by their side to make them stronger. Only one will have that and they will all die and our land will be thrown into chaos. Skye you have fire and earth power the strongest of the two of you. Your mate will be the only one who can save you from yourself. Skyler you have Water and Air. Your mate who has accepted you will keep you grounded." She finished.

   The oracle looked right at Jaxon. "Don't be a fool boy accept your fate" and then turned to us again. "Look for the magic room within the house after Rebecca and Raven come teach you to control your powers. The boys will protect you. With that she left and all eyes where on us.

   Well shit I thought as I went to grab my camera. I needed to think and I ran upstairs to my room and grabbed my sketch book and writing book. This will take a lot of figuring out on my end. Even though it hurt apparently Jaxon and I have to work through our well his issue or we all die. I made my way out to the woods and just roamed around until I found a wonderful pond in a clearing. I set my stuff down and walked around snapping pictures. I just sat in that clearing for hours doodling and writing.

  I am going to figure this out if its the last thing I do.

                            Jaxon's POV

 I followed the oracle "Wait" I said and she stopped. "There has to be a mistake I cant be with Skye" I pleaded.

"You will, or she dies" the old lady said.

 "But" I began. She held up her finger "Give it a chance you need her fire and earth to ground you and mold you into the greatest Alpha in a long time. You four will make the world peaceful again." she said and I was to stunned to argue with her.
