The Prey

Chapter 25

                                                                Skye's POV

 I kept coughing as the blackness surrounded me.  I started to see light and could tell I was waking up. How I have no clue but I could. I tried to open my eyes but it was to bright. I rolled my body away from the light and tried to blink to get used to it only it wasn't working.  So I tried to squint my eyes open. My room was full of light. 

 "Hello" I tried to say but my mouth felt like a very dry desert. It came out rough and hurt which only caused me to cough again. Damn smoke. I tried to get up but my whole body hurt. So instead I slowly put my legs over the edge of the bed and gently slid to the ground. Just as I put my butt on the floor the door busted open causing me to scream. There stood a worried looking Jaxon, next thing I heard was Skyler scream. Brett must have done the same thing. It was almost comical. I let out a harsh squeak when Jaxon picked me up and put me back on the blasted bed.

  "I was so worried about you" he said.

  "What happened" I asked with a very dry throat. He noticed and went to get me some water. I greedily drank it all down my throat enjoying every last drop of cold water.

  "You and your brother and sister where sharing your dream with each other, then you all went into a trance. We followed you to the secret room and you all stood in a circle chanting something, then your ancestors came from the circle ya'll where in and started talking about making sure you knew where to look. Then you all past out and its been two days and Jasmine has been acting weird and now she's disappeared and we cant find her." He said without taking a breath.

  "Whoa whoa whoa breathe Jaxon. What do you mean acting weird and she disappeared?" I said.

  He took a deep breath and proceeded to tell me everything he knew.

   After about thirty minutes he finally got everything out, I got the feeling back in my body and went to my brothers room. "Jackson" I called. He opened the door and looked worried. 

  "We need to talk" He said as he grabbed my hand and lead me downstairs. "Meeting in the living room" I called through the mind link.

  "Where is Jasmine" He asked as soon as we where all there.

  "We don't know. She told Caleb to sit by the woods about two hours ago and wait on her. We searched the woods but couldn't find her" Jaxon spoke up.

 Right at that point Caleb came in a ran into his daddy's arms. "I'm so glad you are awake." he yelled.

  "Caleb son where is your momma"? Jackson asked.

  "I cant tell you she will get mad" Caleb replied

  At that point we all looked at each other confused.

 "Why would she get mad" I asked

  "Because its a secret" he replied in a duh tone. Kids I swear.

  "I need to know son, she may be in danger. Your sister may be in danger as well" Jackson said calmly.  Caleb looked like he was fighting an internal battle.

  "She went to see her Aunt" he whispered. If we didn't have advanced hearing we wouldn't have heard him.

  We all just  stared at each other. What could we do. We just had to wait for her to come back.

 "Well we need to go see what message the ancestors left for us" I said. 

  We started making our way down to the room.  We looked around and saw books open and maps and one area was circled on a very old map. I looked at it closer but couldn't tell where the area is. "Skyler come here with a newer map please" I asked her. She made her way over. "Damn this is a very old map it don't look anything like the newer one. Where the hell are we supposed to go" I said with frustration. I started to think about the area. I couldn't place it. I wanted to pull my hair out. After looking around for another hour I decided to go cook. Cooking always helps me think. 

   After I finshed dinner I still couldn't think. "Hey lets watch a movie" I suggested after deciding I needed to stop thinking for awhile its giving me a headache.

 "Okay Skye help me get some popcorn" Skyler said.

 "Sure, you boys pick out the movie we will be right back" I called.

 We finally had enough snacks I took my bowl over and cuddled next to Jaxon. He put his arm around me and pulled me closer causing me to laugh. Jackson had the remote he gave me and Skyler an evil smirk and hit play. Of course it was a horror movie. It was called the forest. As I was watching it I started to notice it looked familiar.  I couldn't place it. It was not that scary but it was sad. After we finished the movie, I wanted to go shower. I said goodnight to everyone. That movie was bugging me. I turned the hot water all the way up and hopped in. I let the water relax my body while my brain was working on why that place in the movie looked so familiar. 

 I got out and dried myself off brushed my teeth and put on my cloths. After that I braided my long hair. Suddenly I hear Skyler scream "I know where we have to go".

  Sorry to leave it there. I know no one like a cliffhanger but hehe it will be alright.
