The Prey

Chapter 20

                                                               Jaxon's POV 

    I ran into the woods I was beyond pissed. I never saw that coming. Of all the things I thought Skye would say in that moment, Amber being a traitor was not one of them. I spent years with her as my girlfriend. We talked about everything. She told me her family had been murdered by rouges. I kept running until I made it to the pond. I went to where I always hide extra shorts and shifted back slipping them on. I walked over and just began punching trees left and right trying to get some of my anger to go away.

                                                       Skye's POV

   I let Rain lead the way. I don't know how long we where running for but we suddenly came to a clearing with a pond. I watched as Jaxon just punched poor tree after tree. Rain slowly made her way over to him. "Are you stupid Rain, what if he hits us for making him mad?" I began to question my wolf's sanity. "Mate wont hurt us" was all she said. I heard a twig snap under my paw. Jaxon's angry eyes meet mine, I shivered realizing I was not scared of him but aroused. What the hell is wrong with me I thought. I continued to make my was towards him. "Stop Skye" he said looking at me. I felt a pang of sadness hit me in the heart. I whimpered lightly. He walked over to a tree that had not been destroyed and grabbed a t-shirt and some shorts. "Please go change" he said as he turned to walk towards the pond and sat with his chiseled back facing me. I couldn't take my eyes off the sexy sight. I heard a chuckle "Go change sweetie" and there are those damned butterflies. I swear I am as red as a tomato left on the vine to long.

  I go behind a tree and shift back. I put on a shirt that just covers my butt and the shorts. Damn my luck" I mutter to myself because the shorts are way to big. I have to hold them as I walk. I stand behind him taking in all his sexy glory. I shake my head trying to clear my thoughts. I am very confused as to why I keep having them. I am not entirely sure I even like him. All I can say is that when we are close to each other I cant seem to think logically. It really isn't fair that he affects me this was.

  "I am sorry about Amber" I whisper coming back to my senses,  he stands up and turns to face me. The sun is playing off his light brown hair making his beautiful grey eyes shine. I sucked in a deep breathe. When his eyes meet mine it was like the universe stopped. Everything went quiet and it was just the two of us. He stepped closer and brought his hand up to cup my cheek. I sucked in another deep breathe. My body was completely against me at this point as I involuntarily lend into his touch. He brought his lips to mine and whispered "mine" before gently placing his soft pink lips onto mine. Fireworks and electricity coursed through my body as my arms went around his neck. 

  He pulled back after what seemed like forever, allowing us to both catch our breaths as I pray my heart will slow down.  We really needed to talk about this but I had more pressing issues. "I have to go back to my parents house" I told him looking at the ground. 

 "Then we will go with you" he replied turning around and shifting into his glorious grey wolf. He looked at me and turned his head slightly to the right "Come on" a voice said in my head making me jump. A wolfly laugh/snort came out of his mouth. I glared at him and shift following him back towards the pack house. 

   Skyler and Brett where waiting for us. Skyler smelled different. I couldn't quite put my finger on why, I shook my head and grabbed the clothes she had for me and went to change. After I put on the pale blue sundress I made my way out of the woods. I cocked my head looking at my sister. She looked at me and blushed slightly. I just kept staring at her with a look of confusion. Then I felt the sparks run up my arm. I stare at Jaxon while he smiles at my sister and Brett. Skyler goes an even deeper shade of red. "What the hell is going on?" I ask.

  "Well I think we need to head back to our parents house. I have a lot of notes I need to share with everyone" Skyler said as she grabbed Brett's hand and then mine. Next thing I know we are at our parents house. Damn I love that power. I grinned as we all went inside. I frowned as I remember all the sudden that we had no food. "Where the hell is my baby" I scream as I run back outside. Nothing. "Skye sweetie your car was totaled" Jaxon said softly. I wanted to cry.

  "Skye come cook it always makes you feel better" Skyler said throwing her arm over my shoulders as silent tears escape my eyes. She's right it really does help me calm down and think. "We don't have any food" I whimpered. "Brett went and grabbed food" she replied. God I hope it was the right stuff. "What do ya'll want for dinner"? I asked. Skyler's face lite up "Oh God please make a beef wellington" she asked drool practically falling out of her mouth. I chuckled as  started gathering everything I needed. It was gonna be a very long night indeed.

  I was washing the potatoes when a very weird feeling came over me. I tried to ignore it the best I could. I walked back over to the island to chop up the potatoes to roast them when I heard something click. I stepped back to reveal a door that we never saw before. I lifted it and there was stairs going down. "Hey guys come here" I yelled staring at the door. They all came in and came over to see what I was looking at. Skyler gasped. "What in the world" she said. I was pulled towards the door. Drawn in I began to go down the steps. I gasped as did everyone when they made it down. Candles  lite instantly as I stepped into the giant room. We found the magic room. Artifacts lay everywhere. Old books lay on shelves. This stuff looked ancient. Now we could get further into the mystery.
