The Prey

Chapter 3

                                       Jaxon's POV

         A week ago we received word from Beta Jake Montgomery that he was headed this way with Skye and Skyler Morgan. Dad said we had to be nice as their parents and Aunt and Uncle are all dead. I found this to be sad but there was nothing I could do. We are taking them in because my father also known as Alpha Mark Marsh was good friends with the girls family. I was in a meeting with my father and mother. 

"Now what you boys need to understand" my father was saying as I came out of my thoughts lifting my head up to look him in the eyes. "these girls are special they are half werewolf half witch. They have yet to shift and as of last year have no idea what they are. Beta Jake has had their old pack house remodeled and I want all the teens their age to go live there. You have both shifted and we need them protected at all cost" He finished.

  "What's so special about them?" Brett my twin and soon to be my Beta asked. 

"Yeah Dad we are not babysitters." I said backing him up. This was ridiculous and we didn't want anything to do with them.

  " That's the mystery no one knows. We have looked into it over the last year when their Aunt Lily called. She knew her time was coming and asked for us to look after the girls. We agreed. I am having an oracle come to their old pack house to talk to all of us. Im also having a very powerful witch come to help train them when they come into their powers in three weeks.

"Damnit dad we don't want to. Let their pack take care of them." I said.

BOOM we both jumped as dads fist hit his desk. "They have no pack" he yelled at us. Our jaws dropped.

  "How can they not have a pack" we said in unison.

 "Their pack was slaughtered almost 15 years ago by the Rogue King and his Luna. 

Both of our jaws yet again dropped open. "Why" we asked

"Luna Meredith wanted their mother and aunts powers" my mom said sadly. 

"But why" I couldn't help but ask my curiosity now peaked. I looked at Brett and could tell he was just as curious as I was.

  "We are hoping the oracle can tell us" my father replied rubbing his hand down the front of his face. The tell tell sign that he was lost to any answers to the problem.

  "Your father and I will be joining you for a week to help gather answers. I was good friends with Lily and Lilith. I know where we may find some answers but we need Skye and Skyler to get to it." she gave a light smile but looked ever so tired.

  "Great so we have to babysit some girls and protect them from God knows what and we don't have a clue as to what or who is after them. This will be grand huh Brett" I said

  "Fuck yeah it will" he replied with a giant grin

  "Language" our parents said in unison.

 Well hell this is just peachy. I am not gonna enjoy this and I'm gonna make their lives a living hell I vowed as I sulked upstairs to pack for the two hour drive.
