Everywhere the streetwalkers go,
In tandem with dogs,
Pushing snoozing babies,
The gossip seekers,
The vendors and the dealers,
A carnival of life; fanfares around me.
Some skit around the echoes
Of promise breakers
And braying, growling cars.
Others, the cracks in the streets
Where they might fall down.
Smokers and thrill-seekers,
Students and grandparents,
Celebrate the sacred and the pedestrian.
