Scott glanced around as he headed through the crowd. He quickly spotted his friends, Mark, Mason, Matt, Beau, Kevin, and Avi. He smiled, walking over to them. He walked up behind Mark, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend's waist. "Hi."

Mark released a surprisingly high-pitched scream. "Scott!" he spun around, glaring at Scott.

Scott chuckled. "That was a beautiful reaction," he said, smirking.

Mark just kept glaring at him.

"Look, I'm sorry," Scott said, holding his hand out in truce. "Please forgive me."

"Nope," Mark said, turning away.

"Mark," Scott tried again. "Come on."

"Nope."

"Let's go explore the school," Kevin suggested, clearly trying to release some of the tension.

"Yeah, that sounds fun," Avi agreed.

"And it's exactly what we came here to do," Matt added.

"You guys go," Mark said. "Mason and I have other plans."

"What other plans?" Scott asked suspiciously, noticing the way Mason was looking at Mark.

"We're finding some stuff out about the school," Mason explained.

"Yeah, then we'll just hang out," Mark added.

"Come on," Matt said, grabbing Scott by the hair and pulling him towards the school.

"Hey," Scott protested, stifling a scream. He broke free, and glared at Matt. "Don't pull my hair."

"It couldn't have hurt that much," Matt replied.

"You have, like, no hair," Avi pointed out. "You would know?"

"Thank you," Scott said.

"You're welcome," Avi told him.

A few minutes later, the five of them were walking through the halls, when they heard two pairs of giggles. "What would your parents say if you got kicked out of school before it even started?" one voice asked.

"I'd be grounded until I moved out for college," replied the other voice, and the two collapsed into giggles.

"Baby, they wouldn't ever ground you that long," the first voice said.

"Maybe they would,"the second voice replied. "If I ever got expelled, they would."

Both of them laughed, then the first voice (V1) said, "I don't even know what would happen to me. Your parents are stricter. You'd be in more trouble. I don't know what would happen. Neither of us do, I suppose."

"Actually," said the second voice (V2), "I know. My parents outlined everything that I could ever do. Getting expelled before the start of the school year included. I'll be grounded for years."

"Wow," V1 said. "That would be awful."

"And I would be digitally grounded," V2 said. "So, no playing outside, no friends, no TV, no games, no phone, no computer, and you know I hate reading. If we get caught, and then expelled, I can imagine the barren wasteland ahead."

Scott decided that he'd had enough of this conversation. He wanted to play a little prank. He'd heard a teacher's voice earlier, so he imitated this voice, saying, "What are you kids up to?" He walked closer towards the closed door they were behind as he spoke, so it sounded like a male teacher approaching them, having caught them. " I've listened to this conversation since you've been having it, and you can get expelled for what you're doing."
