Mitch was over Beau.
He wasn't his first relationship, or his first heartbreak.
On the first count, he was the third, although he was only Mitch's second boyfriend.
On the second count, he was actually the second. Mitch had tried with Kirstie, but she had been the one to end up heartbroken. Mitch had not. He was the one to really end the relationship, by coming out to her.
Mitch closed his eyes for a moment, listening to Kirstin's voice. He stayed like that for a few seconds; then he started singing as he opened his eyes.
They were in the studio, recording. They would go do an interview after this. The interview was meant to advertise their new album, which they were currently recording for. Mitch wasn't very excited about the prospect of doing the interview. But, they had already agreed to it.
He closed his eyes again, feeling truly exhausted. He used to complain about not being allowed to sit in the studio, but now, he was glad to be standing up. His main problem with school was having to sit down so much. When he was home-schooled, it wasn't as much of a problem. He kind of missed getting home-schooled.

Mitch and Kirstin smiled as they sat down together with their ice cream.
The interviewer had decided to interview them at an ice cream shop, as they were "just kids, and I thought that you would enjoy some ice cream." They had been sickened by that, but they went along with it. It was an excuse to eat ice cream.
"Hi," the interviewer said.
"Hi," both of them responded, nearly in perfect unison. They had rehearsed responses to different greetings.
"So," the interviewer said, smiling at Mitch. "You recently came out to your fans. How do you feel, and what happened at school?"
"Well," Mitch said. "School's been pretty good. There's been a few remarks made here and there, but I think no one really wants to hurt me or offend me. As for how I feel, I feel very good. I'm happy about this. I feel free, like I'm not trying to hide. And it feels very good that we've officially announced that we're not dating. We went along with the assumption that we were, and it felt horrible. It feels better now, since we don't feel like we're lying to our fans anymore."
The interviewer nodded, her unnatural smile never fading as she turned to Kirstie. "And how about you?" she asked. "How long have you known that he's gay?"
"With respect, ma'am," Kirstin said, "That's not what we're supposed to be discussing, but we're more than happy to schedule another interview if you want to talk about that. Now, I'd like to remain on topic. Do you have any questions about the upcoming album?"
The interviewer's smile faltered a little bit, but she nodded. "Yes, you're correct," she said. "I just... couldn't help my curiosity."
"That's all right," Mitch said. "But it's like Kirstin said- we'll be very happy to set a date for a different interview."
"All right," the interviewer said, "let's get back on track...."

Mitch walked gratefully out of the ice cream shop. Kirstin, walking beside him, breathed a sigh of relief. She relaxed visibly for a moment, enjoying the pleasant afternoon (it wasn't actually so pleasant, but it was cold inside the ice cream shop). But then she was all business again."
"Alright," she said. "So, we have a few minutes to ourselves, and you can go find Scott, although how I have no idea."
Mitch smiled. "I have a plan," he replied.
