Clementine and Louis were just checking the last trap, a little farther out from the rest of them. A rabbit hung from it, desperately struggling to get down. It was an adult, therefore meaning Clementine snapped its neck and hung it to her belt.
They started to walk back, before they heard a rustle in the bushes. Clementine unsheathed her knife. They waited a few moments, before nothing came out of the bushes. She turned around, up when she saw what was behind Louis, her eyes widened.
"Louis, behind you!" she shrieked. He raised an eyebrow, but before he could turn around, the back of his knee was kicked, sending him down to the ground. A boot was then firmly placed on his neck. He looked up, seeing a raider.
Clementine surged forward at the raider, but instead received a boot to the stomach from another raider who'd appeared behind the first, sending her against a tree.
"Clementine!" Louis exclaimed. He used all his strength trying to get up, but the boot on his neck only got heavier.
"I'm okay..." she said, reassuring Louis. She was struggling to stand up, her back against the tree. The raider approached her, pulling her up.
"Don't fucking touch her!" Louis said, now trying as hard as he could to get the boot off of his neck.
The raider smirked.
The raider grabbed Clementines arm forcefully.
Louis felt useless under the other raider, unable to help Clementine.
The raider pushed Clementine to the ground, towering over her with a cleaver in hand.
"Stop! If you want to hurt someone, hurt me, please... don't touch her." Louis pleaded. The raider took no note to the boys words. The raider took out a small dagger, and stabbed Clementines hand into the ground, presumably to keep her in place. This resulted in a scream that made Louis's heart plummet. Seeing Clementine like this gave Louis the strength he needed to get the boot off his neck. Before he could stand up, he felt the cold metal of the guns barrel sit against his temple.
"I wouldn't, boy." the raider warned. The boot was placed back on his neck. The other raider pressed their foot against Clementines wounded hand, making the knife dig deeper into the poor girls skin. She let out another blood curdling scream.
"Stop, please!" Louis cried, tears forming in the corner of his eyes at the sight of seeing the girl he loved in so much pain. The raider pulled the knife out of Clementines hand, the blood now pouring out of her hand. She grasped it, wincing at the pain. The raider then took the knife and plunged it into Clementines thigh.
"Fuck!" Clementine shouted in pain.
"Stop! Hurt me, not her!" Louis shouted, desperately trying to help Clem. The raider ignored him once again, pulling the blade out of Clementines leg. The raider held it above Clementines stomach before a shout could be heard in the distance.
"Kinnerton, Westman!" both the raiders looked behind them at the sound of this. The raider pierced Clementines stomach with the knife, taking it out and walking away. The other raider moved their boot off of Louis's neck, before they both walked into the distance towards the voice. Louis scrambled towards Clementine, who was holding her stomach.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, Clem..." Louis said, putting pressure on her wound.
"I should've done something..... shit." Louis said, the tears now falling from his eyes.
"You couldn't have done anything..." Clementine said quietly. He watched as her eyes closed, but her breathing remained intact.
He picked her up bridal style and ran towards the school. His tears wouldn't stop all the way to the school. Aasim was on lookout, and upon seeing Louis running towards the school with Clementine in his arm, he jumped down and opened the gate just in time for Louis running in.
"Ruby!" Louis called. Ruby rushed out, seeing Clem.
"What happened out there?" she asked.
"There were raiders, and I just... fuck, they hurt her. I tried so hard to stop them, but..." Louis said, his head hung low, trying the hide his tears from the group.
"Bring her inside, come on." Ruby said, and Louis obliged. He carried her inside, placing her on the bed Ruby told him to. He begged to stay in the room, that he wanted to be by Clementines side. Ruby had repeatedly told him no, but when she saw that he was crying, she finally obliged, but he had to help her carefully.

Louis had been waiting by Clementines side, hoping she wakes up. Every time she would stir, he'd look at her hopefully.
She fluttered her eyes open, taking a moment to adjust to her surroundings. She smiled when she saw Louis.
"Hey." she said. She tried to sit up, pain shooting up her stomach. She collapsed down onto her back.
"Shit..." she muttered, remembering what had happened.
"Hey, take it easy... I barely got you here alive." Louis explained.
"Thank you, you saved my life Louis." she said, smiling gratefully.
"I could've done something to prevent any of this from happening.... I could've insisted they hurt me instead.. I could've done anything to make sure you didn't get hurt." he said, looking down.
"Louis, you saved my life bringing me back so quickly. If you weren't there, I wouldn't be here." Clementine said, her good hand going over his. He looked at her, showing the few tears that had escaped his eyes.
"Lou.." she said quietly.
"I'm sorry I didn't do more... I'm such a shitty boyfriend..." he said sadly.
"Don't you dare think that for a second. You're the reason I'm alive." Clementine said. Louis smiled, a genuine smile.
"I love you, Clem."
"I love you too."
