Chapter 6 ~ The Date

Now that Andrew finally asked Meredith out on a date, it means that it's time for him to actually plan the date. He wants it to be as perfect as she is. He did have to do some snooping around to find out what she likes, so he goes to the people who know her the best, Amelia, Maggie, and Alex. Luckily, they were all standing at the nurses station talking so he had a great opportunity to speak to all three of them all at the same time instead of talking to the individually. "Hey guys. I need a favor." he says to them. "Hey Deluca, what is it?" Maggie responds. "I need you guys to tell me what Mer's favorite food is. I'm taking her on a date tonight and I'm cooking for her at my place." He's rushing through his sentence. Typing in the name of the food in his phone, he thanks them and rushes off. Then he goes back to tell them, "Also, can you please not mention this to Mer? I really want this to be a surprise and for it to be perfect as well." "Of course, Andrew. I won't tell a soul." Amelia replies. "I won't tell anyone either." Alex is making his "scary" face to try to scare Andrew, but it's not going to work. They all want the best for Meredith, and they think that Andrew is the best person for her ever since Derek died.
Later that day, Andrew went to go find Meredith to ask her if she's ready fro their date. He didn't find her in the attending lounge, so he goes to check the OR board schedule. Her name is up there for an emergency exploratory laparotomy. He enters her gallery and turns on the intercom, "Was this an emergency straight from the ER?" he asks. "Yeah, I'm so sorry Andrew. I will try to get out of here as soon as I possibly can." Meredith responds. Andrew doesn't get mad at her. He could never get mad at her. "Do you want to reschedule for tomorrow night?" He really wants this first date with her. She's perfect. That's all he could ever ask for.
