Chapter 8 ~ Dead or Alive

Meredith grabs her phone and calls 911. She knows that she shouldn't move her head, or she risks paralysis, so she puts her phone in her lap on speaker phone and stops moving her head. "Grey Sloan Emergency." It's April! "April! Its Meredith! I've been in a car crash and I need you to send two, possibly three ambulances." Meredith starts crying for Andrew but still no response. She tells April their location and within 15 minutes, she hears sirens. They get her, Andrew, and the other guy out of the cars. The paramedics bring them all to the ER at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Meredith gets sent to Trauma 1, Andrew to Trauma 2, and the John Doe to Trauma 3. "Where's Andrew! I need to know if he's okay!" "Meredith, we've got him. He's going to be fine, okay. His injuries are severe since he was hit from the drivers side. I'll let you know as soon as I can.' Owen treasured me a little. As long as Andrew isn't dead, I'm fine. I'm pretty sure Andrew is going to need surgery, and I might too. April examines my injuries. "She has a head lack, let's page Neuro. Crap her lung collapsed! Page Cardio too! We need to get her to an OR now! Whatever you do, do not page Shepherd or Pierce, they don't need to know this right now." Yep, I knew it, I need surgery. All I can think about right now is Andrew. I need to know he's okay, but I can't speak. April intubated me and we are headed up to the OR. They put me under and I have a dream... Andrew and I were back in the car and I was still dancing and singing, but the car didn't hit us this time. What Would've happened if John Doe didn't hit us?
Amelia and Maggie walk into the OR and see Meredith lying on the table. "Oh, my god! What happened!?" Maggie exclaimed. "I told the nurse not to call you both, but since you're here, take a look at the CT scans." Amelia and Maggie walk over to the scans and examine them. "Head looks clear, no bleeders, no skull fractures. We're good here. Let me know how it goes." Amelia says. "Chest is clear too. And let me know to please." Maggie says with a look of devastation on her face. "Okay. Thanks for not being upset that I didn't want to page you guys." April says. "It's okay. I understand." Amelia replies. she walks out of the OR and when she gets to the hallway, she starts crying.
A few hours later, both Meredith and Andrew are out of surgery. Meredith asks if they can be put in the same room. Owen says yes, so he brings her to Andrew's room. "Hey you, how are you feeling?" Andrew says. "Happy to know that you aren't dead." she responds. then Andrew says something amazing, "I would kiss you right now, but I can't move from this bed." His words send shivers through Meredith's body. Then, out of the blue, Meredith starts coding.
