Chapter 9 ~ Codes & Crash Carts

Andrew presses his call button repeatedly until Owen comes with a crash cart. "Mer! Mer don't leave me! Please Meredith! I love you!" Andrew shouts. "V-Tach! Charge to 200, clear!" Owen demands, but nothing happens. Andrew says, "No! Charge to 300!" Owen agrees. "Clear!" The monitor beeps, "We got a rhythm." Andrew starts to weep. He almost lost her. He couldn't wrap his head around the thought of losing her. She's been to hell and back too many times in the past, but there's no way Andrew is going to let Meredith go through another bit of hell after this whole MVC thing is over. She was still asleep but her stats were good. Andrew couldn't sleep all night because he was worried Meredith would code again. He was afraid that if she died, he would never get the chance to tell her that he loves her. When she woke up the next morning, she looked over at Andrew and said, "Hey. How are you feeling?" "How am I feeling? You coded last night and I stayed up all night worried you would code again! Please don't scare me like that Mer. I-I love you." She looked shocked. He said that he loves her and all she can think about is how much she loves him too. "I love you to Andrew. When you kissed me at Alex's wedding, its always been you since." Andrew's heart is so happy that this time, he starts to code. Luckily Owen was right outside their room so he got there early with the crash cart. "V-Tach! Charge to 250! Clear!" No response. "Come on Andrew! Don't do this to Meredith. Don't you leave her now. Charge to 300! Clear! Sinus rhythm. Pulse is weak, but it's there." Owen is shocked by how much they love each other. He loves seeing Meredith so happy. He hasn't seen her this happy since Derek. "Andrew you idiot!" Meredith exclaimed playfully, but she was also crying. How Andrew felt when Meredith was down is exactly how she felt when he was down as well.
A few hours pass by and they have been talking to one another as if they were on their date. They think it's kinda weird that they are on their "first date" in their workplace, but instead of being the surgeons, they are the patients. The other driver's injuries were so minor that he was discharged 5 hours ago. Drunk driving. His BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration: the amount of alcohol in your system) was .12 (very bad; legal limit is .08 for the state of Washington). He was given a ticket as a warning and he got let go. Meredith and Andrew had been brought dinner the next day. It was delivered to them by Maggie, Amelia, and Alex. They were dressed up all fancy, like waiters and waitresses at a restaurant. They set up the food on a tray and lit some candles. They were setting up for a candlelit dinner as an official first date. "Mer, I brought you the sandwich you eat for lunch the most, and for you Deluca, I brought you the same sandwich because I don't know what you like. Sorry." Alex said. "Thanks Alex. I really appreciate it." Andrew replied. Him and Meredith ate and talked and it was perfect for them. Then they found out some bad news that they didn't want to hear.
