Mer is still in pain and Alex is still nowhere to be found. Mer grabs her phone and calls him. He answers.
"Alex, I'm in labor and I need you here right now. I need my person." Mer says, almost bursting out in tears from the pain.
"Mer, I came to your house to babysit the kids and finish the baby's room for you. I thought you knew I was here. Just so you know, Ellis and Bailey are asleep, Zola wanted to help with the baby's room."
"Okay. Thank you Alex. I'll try to text Maggie or Amelia to see if they can come. Make sure Zozo gets to bed by at least 9:30."
"You got it Mer. When you come home, the baby's room should be ready. I'll come visit you at the hospital tomorrow. I'll bring the kids too." Alex hands the phone to Zola.
"Hi mommy! I'm helping Uncle Alex with the crib for Anthony!"
"Oh thank you sweetie. Please listen to Uncle Alex when he says its time for you to get to bed, okay?" Mer says, trying to hide the pain in her voice.
"Okay mommy. I can't wait to meet my baby brother! Goodnight mommy. I love you." Zola hands the phone back to Alex.
"Goodnight Zozo. I love you too." Mer hangs up the phone.
Andrew runs in with Ice Chips in his hand. "I got these for you. I know you didn't ask for them, but I saved you the trouble of waiting." He bends down to kiss Mer on the forehead and places the Ice Chips on the bedside table.
