Chapter 14| The Universe's Eye.
*Camp Half-Blood, Long Island*
|Leo Valdez|
Yep, I was officially going mad.
Oh, don't worry, it's nothing out of the ordinary. Recently I've been acting like a madman (at least more crazier than usual) and all because of one ship.
The Argo II was causing more trouble than I expected. I have been working on it for years now, but every time I would install a new upgrade onto it, it's like the boat would simply refuse the treatment and break down.
Does that even make sense? I don't know, I am crazy, remember?
So it has been my life mission to rebuild my baby, but I don't see this going anywhere. Some of my half-brothers even volunteered to help me, but they keep having the same results as me.
Hades, even Annabeth and Calypso were working for the cause. They didn't know a lot about engineering, but they were helpful. A bit.
So I decided to start new projects in the meantime, a few of which I was very proud of. For example, I managed to create something similar to a smartphone for demigods, without having to constantly worry about being tracked down by monsters. One of its abilities was to communicate every camper whenever an important meeting was held, when it was time for meals, or just to notify them changes within the camps.
Another project the Hephaestus cabin and I are working on is the alarm system. Instead of having to blow the conch horn to signalize attacks, we thought that it would be better to install 'alarm buttons' around camp, so when border patrol notice any threat coming, they would just have to press that button and both camps would be alarmed, so that the other camp could come for back-up.
This were just a few of the new upgrades Camp Half-Blood was going through. They were small, but it was time for some changes.
I came back to reality as soon as my eyes landed on the blueprints in front of me. I took a minute to look through the plan, then turned towards the gray-eyed daughter of Athena.
"You want what?", I asked incredulously, once again examining the piece of paper that was now in my hands.
Annabeth rolled her eyes at my statement, something she has been doing a lot recently, may I add.
"I want to build a guest cabin", she repeated. I blinked a couple of times before frowning.
"But.. but that's what the Big House is for! Guests can stay there!", I whined, my lack of sleep from the previous night doing its trick on me. I had been very busy lately, cue the insomnia.
"The Big House is not that big. Indeed, it has a few rooms, but I think guests would feel a lot more comfortable if they could stay in high-quality rooms. Wouldn't want to cause a first bad impression when they arrive, now would we?", she inquired a smug smirk taking over her features.
I sigh defeated. Damn, children of Athena know how to fight back.
"Still, I would need Chiron's approval and the materials to--", I started, but was cut off by the woman giving me a piece of paper.
"I already talked to Chiron and even made him sign a paper. As for the materials, strawberry season has begun, so the incomes should be ascending soon. Besides, it's not like you are missing lots of things", she suggested, crossing her arms over her chest.
Reluctantly, I agreed to her terms, and told her that we would meet up later the following day to discuss everything.
I watched her walk away, her head snapping towards the direction of the beach hesitantly.
