Chapter 15|Her biggest fear.

*Cancun, Mexico*

|Evie Saunders|

Waking up with a painful headache is never a good way to start a new day.

I laid still for a couple of minutes before I actually had the will to open my eyes and look around.

The first thing I noticed was that I definitely wasn't in my hotel room.

I sat up, rubbing my eyes tiredly, and checked the room. The walls were painted a nice pastel pink, with a couple of decorative shelves nailed to different parts of it. A huge plasma screen hangs on the wall opposite the bed I had been previously sleeping on.

The room looked quite pleasing to the eye, except for the fact that numerous bodies were lying around unconscious.

It was a weird sight: some people were just passed out on the floor surrounded by empty bottles, some were seated against the walls with stuff written on their exposed skin, and others (like me) were all huddled onto the bed together.

I managed to recognize Alec upon the pile of drunk teens on the floor. That was enough to trigger memories from the previous night, and how we had ended up here.

We arrived in Mexico around two days ago, and immediately checked into our hotel called Hotel Emporio Cancun. I remember spending countless hours on the beach, playing around with my friends, and then having a nice dinner in the hotel restaurant.

However, as I tried to recall what led us to assist to a party- which looked suspiciously similar to a 'frat party' I watched in a movie a few nights ago- my head felt all dizzy. The only thing I managed to remember was that I had tried alcohol for the first time, and assuming by the situation I'm currently in, I guess that I went a little bit overboard with it.

I slowly got up from the bed, mainly because I didn't want to wake up the strangers sleeping next to me, but also because I felt as if I could lose my balance any second.

I quietly tip-toed to where Alec laid on the floor, and as I crouched down next to him, I tried to shake him awake. "Alec. Alec! Wake up, Alec. We gotta get out of here", I whispered-yelled, flinching at the sudden movement from the girl laying next to him.

I tried once again, this time receiving a couple of inaudible mumbles in response. As my frustration grew by the second, I decided I couldn't take it any longer and went a little extreme. I slapped him.

That was enough to make him open his eyes, his gaze soon turning into a glare as soon as he looked at me.

"What the fuck is wrong with you!?", he cursed out loud, stirring some of the people sleeping around us. I quickly covered his mouth with my hand and motioned for him to keep silent.

"We need to get out of here and find Percy and Alisha.", I told him, getting muffled curses as an answer.

It took me a good five minutes to finally get Alec up on his feet and awake, and another awkward five minutes of apologizing to the sleepy teens for accidentally stepping on them on our way out.

As I stepped out of the room, I was met with a dark hallway leading to what I guessed were other rooms. Thankfully, there were no people unconscious on the floor there, but I figured that if we wanted to find Percy and Alisha, we would probably have to come across more rooms like the one we had been previously sleeping in.

And we did just that. One by one, we checked the other four rooms on our floor. Sometimes, we would have to actually enter the room and make sure that none of the asleep bodies were our partners. Other times, we would immediately close the door after taking a peek inside, usually when we found a naked couple inside. You can imagine how awkward that would have turned out if they had been awake.
